Surprised to hear that a car magazine which bases itself on the myth that shiney = faster is willing to admit that buying such merchandise isn't strictly neccessary.

I would like to mention though that my RA had a K&N induction kit and a Forge re-circ DV and on low-ish boost it made that quite cool fluttering noise.

I like the fluttering noise.

Anyone else with a Forge Recirc get a nice 'ping' when releasing the throttle?

No, that noise should come from the DV not opening at low boost. I don't have that sound on my car.

I have a fmic and use a Saab/Bosch recirculating plastic DV. Cheap and perfect function (opens at low boost pressures too). They don't like boost pressures over 1,5 bar in the long run though.

LOL @ Ed. That is why I don't read it but it is amazing what you can read on a long train journey. Maybe things have changed at Redline because there is quite a lot of common sense in there this month but it bugs me that they rave about headlights being so good but only test them on dipped beam. Ok for urban cowboys I guess.

Just fitted a Forge re-circ valve to my scoob, and it makes a lovely fluttery sound, doesnt sound to loud like some of the atmospheric ones you can get(which is annoying after a few days)!!! Overall quite happy with it!!! Car drives smooth which is the main thing.

Just to finish off the thread:

fitted a turbosmart valve - IMO not worth the money, not as loud as expected, fitting was easy although had to replace the oil breather hose. Oh brought engine light on within 10min, even though it was the EXPENSIVE dual port which was meant to prevent that!

Have now removed the turbosmart and fitted a forge one, perfect drive has not changed much, apart from the sound which has to be said it nice not too in your face. Fuel consumption has not changed nor has the forge valve brought on the engine light which is great its been on for over a week.

Thats my findings so take them or leave them.

Mate,

If it helps you out..........I've done the full circle and gone back to the factory recirc.

I've had
Forge VTA
Forge Recirc
Turbosmart Dualport
DV Delete etc and guess where i am now. Factory recirc.

The reason for using the factory BOV is that provding it is in good condition it is probably superior to many of the aftermarket offerings.
Don't be taken in by the glossy advertising and at best very questionable marketing blurb that tries to persuade you that you will gain better accelleration and crisper throttle response from fitting the Acme BOV. Usually total crap so save your money.

Providng your mapper doesn't sell BOVs ask him whether there is any point spending £100 on an aftermarket item.
