My MY99 when totally standard got 233bhp and 221lb/ft......
Drove the Sti a few weeks back - thought it was a nice drive, got back in mine though and it was quicker(266 and 257)

personal point of view......
MY00, scoobysport complete system (decat), itg panel filter. Never on a r/r.
Fitted the TEK 1 (thanks David/Steven ) ecu. turbo 'seems' to spin up ever so slightly earlier, overall smoother ride, with no surging when cold (so far), amazingly, the car keeps pulling past 5500 revs, goes to more like 6500 revs now, so I would say the power distribution is far superior. Like I say never tested, and I'm not too fussed what the r/r would say, and to be honest don't care about the argument over performance figures, but the car feels quicker/smoother and more responsive than previously which is exactly what I was hoping for (will go on r/r in next month or so... just to give myself a number (for the pub!))
summary, If you own an MY00, with an AE802 chip, I reckon this is the best £150.00 you'll spend and recommend it highly. A good friend of mine with same spec got his TEK 1 on Monday, he has basically the same opinion as me, in fact he's so impressed, he has decided that the TEK 2 upgrade when ready is another must!.
good luck

One more question (before I order....)
Is it best to keep your existing ECU when having the upgrade? How do we know that the ECU that you get on an exchange basis is not off some 100,000 mile example and about to fail?
I suppose it has to be weighed up against having to have the car off the road for a few days whilst the upgrade / postage time occurs.
Also, when do you expect to have the £500 upgrade available by post?
Cheers
Dales
Edited to say thats two questions!

If you order anything from us then you get a free sticker. However if anyone would like a free EcuTek vinyl sticker then please e-mail sales@ecutek.com and we will post a couple off to you.
Please send us pictures of your car, but only if you have one of our ECU's fitted.

I've got the same thoughts as dale, i'd personally would much rather have my own ECU reprogrammed in the car, is this going to be feasable in the near future, i.e. drive into power/eng plug in via underdash connector? and download updated program.
cheers

No. Just make sure your ignition key is out/off.
One spanner is all you need.
Lift the carpet, undo the bolts, lift off the kickplate, couple more bolts on the ecu, lift out ecu, pull off connectors, plugin new, do reverse to refit. 10mins first time. 2mins once your practised !

Injury can come in two forms so be careful........
1)When removing metal kickplate undo all the nuts and then watch out for the razor sharp edges.
2)Mind neck when accelerating with all the extra torque / power.

Got in at 19:00 ecu waiting for me 19:15 new ecu fitted went for a test
I never had a problem with my MY00 infact I loved it it was fast enough (so i thought) I,ve had resonable motors b4 (VR6 325i 2051.9GTI 106gti)Scooby was in a different league and I thought this my00 being slow was rubish
Set off with car still warm (its fully de-catted (a al Scoobysport) KN 57i cone ect. b4 it was pulling about .9 to 1 bar b4 now even though it seemed quicker and way smoother it was only giving .8 bar.anyway after about ten hard miles the boost was hitting 1 bar in 4th and 5th excelent.
the car 'feels' faster, over 5k is way better, pulling hard now from 3K to 7K.
Right I thought to the test track to see if was just plecibo effect
I have a little test I do on all my cars (on private land obviously) I set of from a standing start and at a point further down the road i note my mph simple but effective.
Anyway I hit about 110MPH last time I tested in the Scoob
This time (BL00DY H3LL) 120MPH way before and had to back off (lets just say I aint got ***** that big)
Excellent mod excellent (now I see)
One point is The ABS seems less severe ??? 4 pots instead of 2?? Ive got Godspeeds awesome brake kt (335mm) BTW the tyres seemed to lock up and tryes screech before the abs cutting in ! am I just imaging it ??
ECUTEK sticker is now being worn with pride (what the f will the performance chip be like !!)
Tal Very happy

Hi Tal,
Thanks for the kind words.
Regarding the brakes, I hope you are imagining it, because the ABS controller is not within the ECU, so won't have been affected. You probably cooked your brakes a little more than before. Braking from 120 instead of 110, the brakes need to absorb 20% more heat.
Sorry to go off topic: I'm about to get some brakes for my car, to fit in my larger wheels, hopefully letting me pass an MOT too ;-) I'll have to take a look at these GodSpeed ones - 335mm is BIG.
Cheers

My MY00 (full SS exhaust, running on Optimax) only seems to hold about 10psi boost.
Does the ECU control the boost or does some mechanical device open the wastegate?
I've ordered the TEK1 ECU, will my boost levels increase?
Or could my boost gauge be inaccurate or my turbo be dodgy?
Thanks
Kevin.

Hi Kevin,
You could have a dodgy solenoid valve, split pipe, or ECU problem. Take the car to a garage (with a select monitor or DeltaDash) and make sure all is well, before you do anthing else. Could just be the boost gauge, but it's not worth risking it.
(You should see 13/14 PSI)

Well, I've just installed the TEK1 and I can't stop smiling!
I can't believe it's the same car! It just goes so much better now!
I'm still only holding 10psi boost, but I'll get this looked into at the next service.
Thank you Ecutek!
Kevin.
