Cool

I was going to book in for a geometry check today but I think I'll wait a while and see how you get on John.

I got springs and front camber -1.5 degrees, toe in 1.5mm all round. Going back next week to get the bumpsteer so the springs can settle and I can tell which bit has done what. I'll update you - too much to do springs and the first bumpsteer in the time available today anyway.

John, did you get the bump steer mod done ??

I'm getting Eibachs fitted on Monday at AWD then shooting over to Falklands to get the geometry done.

Just wondering what your thoughts are if you've got it done yet, cos if it's worth it I might get the bump steer done on mine, time allowing.

It is very good - Kevin could do a nice 4 wheel drift around a very large r'bt for a very long time!

It feels considerably less wooly in corners - will need to wait until I am on track to know how much more it hangs on.

HI GUYS,
i got my geometry set up at falkland and it trasformed the handling or my wrx! i have now changed from 205s on 16s to 215s on 17s and it still feels great, very progesive rear breakaway, and much nicer to drive, i am glad i did not buy the 18s though,
as i think they might have been to brutal for our roads,
big thanks to kevin at falkland for the s/hand wheels and the exelent bridgstone tires top kit!! and dont worry kevin i will get the oil cooler when i get back on shore!!!

cheers robin.

After a few days driving it I am really impressed. It is definitely more resistant to understeer and feels great through the corners. Nice match to the new power - it was starting to get a bit too much before.

Right guys here’s my initial report on the suspension work I’ve had done, sorry it’s very long winded but there’s a lot to say. Unfortunately it is difficult to really say how good any individual part is because everything was done almost together but here goes.

Firstly I got 17” wheels and Goodyear F1-D3 tyres fitted about 3 weeks ago, this made a huge difference to the turn-in at corners making the steering feel sharper, and oddly enough road noise is also down considerably.

Yesterday I started off at AWD and got a set of used Eibach springs fitted, the difference in ride height is barely noticeable but on the 15-20 miles of back roads I covered on the way over to Glenrothes the vast improvement in cornering composure was very obvious the car just felt much safer going round sharp bends. The ride quality over bumps is about the same but slightly harsher. Next it was into Falklands to get the Geometry set up, and I decided to also go for the Bumpsteer mod (why not). Leaving Falklands a difference was immediately obvious, the steering was a lot stiffer (probably because the front OS wheel had been miles out of alignment). On the way home I tried braking hard several times (well as hard as you can with a set of springs in the boot) and I found that the steering was much more stable when braking, the see-saw action has all but disappeared, also as soon as I came off the brakes the car would immediately feel ready to turn into the corners. Steering response now feels immediate at all times, that nervous 1/2 second when I start to turn in has gone.

As for today, I’ve been trying at every opportunity to get the car to understeer but never even managed to even get a screech from the tyres (although traffic was a negative factor). I will get a chance to try it properly on Sunday at Kames, but things look pretty good for just now.

Hands up who’s still awake

Stefan, Falkland have their own settings (wouldn't tell exactly what they were when they did mine) that are very close to the prodrive ones.

Been home for the weekend to Lincolnshire (some very good driving roads) and have noticed that the turn in is improved over how it was before. Understeer is reduced, didn't really drive much in the wet so can't comment but it did feel better with the new settings.

I don't think it has 'transformed' the car like some people claim but i have noticed a differnce for the better.

I was a bit disappointed with the wet grip, but there are two factors - since I last drove hard in the rain I have gained about 40lbft and my front tyres are a bit lacking in tread

Time for a front - rear switch I think - then it will probably be a bit more neutral in the wet

Thought I'd pop this thread back into the myre, this is a topic I posted earlier today regarding the tracking/alignment on the Impreza. I'm suffering from bad wear on o/s/f tyre where it is apparent my tracking is miles out. I do tend to suffer from mega understeer but I made the initial corrections when driving hard but It would be nice to lose some of this. Now the question I want convinced on, If I get the 4 wheel alignment done at Falkland with their settings without the bumpsteer mod, should I find a difference.

I may already find that with my tracking out so much just now, by having this corrected will make the car a better car. How quick can Falkland fit you in (I require new tyres ASAP as one is illegal and am heading down south at weekend) I had hoped to have alignment & tyres done b4 I go on Friday.

Any further help on this topic would be much appreciated.

PS - Has anybody else used CLCM Wheel alignment in Sighthill before ? I had this company recommended to me last month for this sort of work.
