I'm being sarcastic and lamenting the effect socialism (in rewarding failure and sloth) seems to have had on this society.
(Then again, that may be exactly the attitude you refer to ).
FYI, I am by nature self reliant and have never made a personal injury claim.

You will also find that the insurance want you to claim whiplash. This stops bigger claims later on relating to the accident.
I once had someone run into the back of me, did the wifes back in but i wasn't too bad just a little twinge in my neck that lasted a day or so. His insurance insisted we claim!

A large proportion of people are actually dishonest. They may not steal from shops but they would be very happy to defraud an insurance company, or claim something was faulty when they actually dropped it etc.

As far as they are concerned this is ok, because they pretend nobody suffers and its not the same as stealing from your neighbour. That's not true, either you live by a moral code or you don't. When I hear people mention doing such things I tell them straight to their face that they are a common thief. I don't care if the company involved is worth 10 billion quid, that shouldn't make a difference to what is, or is not moral behaviour.

We used to get quite a few people at work trying to claim for damaged wheels, thinking some random "fairy dust insurance company" would pay for it and nobody would get hurt.

The thing is 99% of the time they were full of ****, you can spot them a mile off when they come in anyway, cars coming in that look like they have just been cleaned, spotless apart from a kerbed wheel, sometimes even with the tyres dressed?!? we ended up putting cameras inside the carwash to video the wheels as they were travelling through proving they were not touching anything, this usually shut the lieing *******s up.

Had one fella, leing through his teeth telling me that he knew the wheels were mint because he had just paid for them to be refurbed himself, the best part of it was, he claimed they were done at the ford dealers just down the road (he drove a BMW)
His face was a picture when i told him i knew the bodyshop manager quite well, as i was working in the bodyshop a few years back, the lad was full of ****, they dont refurb wheels, but even when backed into a corner, still kept up his bollocks, it was quite amusing playing with him, until i put him out of his misery and showed him the cctv footage, he then went quite red and said "ohh my lass must have been driving it" and made his escape

As above, IMHO the vast majority of the general public these days, are dishonest if they think they can get away with it, they have no morals at all, until you are in a position when you have to deal with it on a daily basis, its hard to believe.

You can test them easy enough, simply give them too much change back on purpose and see if they say anything

Only ever had 1 person tell me of my "mistake" before you can even watch them check it before putting it into a pocket

The way you wrote the post made me think the way I did. Glad you were being sarcastic after all and I imagine you will support what I said apart from my mistaken criticism of you!
