ok have now fitted new plugs, but car only just ticks over for a bit throttle does nothing,
going to do a compresion test next
now have error
11
12
on ecu
i hope compresion is good either way it will point me in the right direction,
**** compresion engine out
good compresion get sensor / find wiring fault or ground fault

Excellent news re. the compression test. Are you absolutely sure you're getting error 12 (rather than 13)?
Error 11 is the crankshaft position sensor so that alone would explain the car not running properly. Error 12 is the starter switch, and that's a bit of an odd one as you'd normally only see it if the car doesn't turn over on the starter - although I can imagine there are some circumstances in which this might be caused secondary to an 11.
First thing to do is chase up the 11. Sounds like you either have a duff crank sensor or a wiring fault between it and the loom. Either change the sensor or run a continuity test on the loom.

yeah am sort of over the moon about the compression test but car is still not right, have still got the radiator off, will have a ecu test 2 mo to see if i have any codes now
the sensor was fine before so i thimk it must be a wiring fault.
is there any chance that it could still be out of time

this may sound stupid as you probably would have known if you did it but have you checked that the crank angle sprocket has all of the pieces sticking out which the sensor reads the angle off of as 1 could of snapped off when it came loose or when you removed it snapped you probably would have noticed it if you did it but i snapped 1 when i did my first rebuild silly mistake but its just checking the basics as if it is missing 1 it obviously will not the the angle of the crank worth a look ??
