Have to agree with the above too, different factories involved too. Currently have two sets of GSD3. One set German on a MY97 with old shocks and grip better in the wet than the set from Thailand on a MY97 with new shocks. Go figure....

Does a V2 have a close ratio gearbox ?
That and 330 bhp in a relatively light car is going to make the torque vs grip an easy win....
Mine has 360 ft.lbs and never strays far from the line, heavier New-Age STI on 235 R888's.

I've just put a set of GSD3's on my 2008STI and it's as twitchy as a rabbit's nose in the wet.... fantatic fun...
The Dunlops that were on it before had way more wet grip (until you encountered standing water..then it was your *** that was doing the twitching )

Sorry to disagree but had a set on a Clio 16v and the car would not turn in in the wet, just slid straight on. Replaced with Goodyear NCT2 and harmony was restored to the pocket rocket, will never touch them again. Personally rate them alongside Nankang for sh1teness in the wet. dj219957 seems to agree but then everyones experience/driving style is different.....
The more I read in these forums the more I realise that driver preferences/styles effect the percieved handling characteristics. I have experience and dislike off Michelins, Pirelis, Bridgestones, Kumhos and Nankang. I like Toyo, Goodyears, Vredestien. Just the same as some people like lairy rear antiroll bars and I prefer the understeer of the softer OEMs.
It's not rubbish tho, the Kumho's are still sh1te IMHO. As for not visiting the otherside of the nearest hedge, maybe you're not trying hard enough

As for not trying hard enough! I live in Germany where we have roads and speeds you can only dream of, plus you have no idea how I drive. I don't have 370-380ps impreza for doing the weekly shop in you know! (Althought it does help) I have a mini cooper for that.
As Stiler83 said maybe you had a crap set.
Also while we are on the subject of tyres, I can thoroughly recommend Nokian WR 215/40/17 winter tyres on an impreza. You will have as much fun in the freezing wet , snow and ice as you do in the dry.

You've obviously never driven a Phase 2 Clio 16v pocket rocket then, enough said
Gosh!

does your car have diff control? perhaps you have it set too much to the rear. as a general rule imprezas in standard form should understeer when pushed to the limit thats why so many people have the anti dive kit fitted.
+1 for Falkens
had toyos before and they turned my car into an understeering tyre squeeling wreck in wet and dry conditions. falkens with my AST set up is very controlled

Never tried Falkens on a Scooby but had them on a (highly modified) Orion injection ghia a decade or so back and was very impressed with them then, but shyed away on the Scoobs and the Porsche as never recommended. Nice to know they stil do a good tyre.
Federals are another rubbish one I HAVE tried on a Scooby that i didn't mention earlier. Awful wet or dry and so loud I thought I had a wheel bearing failure LOL.
Oh, my Scoob doesn't get used for the shopping, but the wifes Scoob does. The shopping tends to get a pretty rapid ride home by a trained Ambulance driver LOL

Your handling characteristics description made me laugh and then dig out some photos of a trackday I did soon after getting my car.
Having quickly realised that the tyres supplied on the car, were in fact rubbish in the wet (despite all being matching yokohamas with good tread), i decided to get some decent tyres on the fronts as a starter.
Wet track + rubbish tyres on the back = massively fun day/massively terrifying day
Anyway to cut a long story short, I was suprised firstly at how much an impreza could oversteer and secondly how quickly gravel traps can stop you.
this is where i ended up:
Eventually replaced the rear tyres, to give a matching set of goodyear F1s and its not as much fun....

I picked up my wrx last week (first scoob), the previous owner had to have 2 new front tyres to pass the MOT and because he was selling it went for the budget option... Didn't realise quite how budget they were until the drive home, decided go around a damp roundabout pretty hard. The tyres had other ideas as the car continued straight on - had to change my pants when I got home!!
Will be changing those bad boys asap!!!
