Tiger comes clean...

No Trout it is true that I have not seen huge posters all over the place telling us what a clean cut chap he is or know of any time when he might have told us what a perfect chap he is who would never do wrong in any way.
If it is true that his persona is presented to the public in such a manufactured way, then I have had no idea of such machinations going on since it would seem pretty unimportant to me.
It just seemed to me that his golfing skills spoke for themselves and that he needed no other kind of a build up by professionals to impress us all. I would have no interest in such a performance, all I can say is that I have enjoyed watching his playing of the game and also that he never seems to have employed any kind of gamesmanship to upset his rivals.
In fact I am just not interested in the details of his private life, only as a top man at his game and that is how I regard all sporting aces, such as top racing drivers etc., because all I want to see when they are performing at their best. I certainly would not want to discuss what they do away from their chosen occupations, that just seems like idle or even vicious gossip to me.

Do you genuinely believe that Susan Boyle personal abilities got her to where she is today? quite frankly to believe that is beyond madness heading towards stupidity.
Les, I really really cannot help but think of late you have went buck mad/insane with old age!!!!![/quote]
I am not going to bother to try to explain that without her undoubted special singing ability that Susan Boyle would have got nowhere.
What does concern me is the way you have made your posts including those statements above.
You have insulted me by accusing me of insanity and stupidity as well as displaying ageism towards me. Experience is very valuable as you may learn eventually.
I imagine that I have been around for a bit longer than you of course and I have learned a thing or two about life.
Let me give you a bit of useful knowledge that I have picked up and that is that those people who feel that they have to resort to unpleasant and specious insults in order to bolster up their statements have already lost the argument right from the start. It is not as though that is what you had to put up with from me is it?
Not to put too fine a point on it, that sort of thing is almost certainly skirting close to the edge as far as the rules are concerned. You would probably be wise to think about that in future.
I would hate to be vindictive in any way and also I believe that just because somene has a different opinion to me, that is no reason to dislke him. We are all entitled to our personal opinions. I am quite happy to agree to differ over something and name calling is not going to prove anything anyway. I am not averse to a civilised discussion and incidentally am quite prepared to accept that I could be wrong. What is the point of trying to live a lie in such a case anyway?
I was sorry to see those remarks of yours and in fact was surprised to see them.

It may not seem obvious but his public persona (like that of most sportspeople and celebrities at the top of their game) will be managed to the nth detail by marketing, branding and legal experts. Everything he says publicly will be carefully orchestrated by a variety of experts and advisers.
These are HUGE sums of money and everyone will want value from it.
Whether these are realistic expectations of a human being is questionable but it is where we have ended up.
So enjoy his golf and we can all hope he gets back to the top of his game again - but just remember what you see has is driven as much by being a great golfer as it is by the $100m marketing men behind him.

I guess I go back to my earlier point - Tiger Woods makes around $90-100m a YEAR from endorsements. He is the 'brand ambassador' for Accenture one of the leading professional services firms in the world for example.

In a way I feel sorry for him to have to allow these people to run his life in such a manner. I certainly agree when you say that such expectations by these people is indeed questionable.
Having made their first £100 million I expect some people must begin to wonder whether it is worth continuing in such a constricted way of life.
If he feels he has to succumb to temptation and have a bit or two on the side, thats his risk and it usually winds up as never having been really worth it anway.
I still can't be bothered personally to delve into all that and I just like to see him play top line golf anyway. I am just not interested in his private life.

There has been an analysis of the sponsors of Woods following 'the crash'.
Taking into account stock market variation and comparing each brand with their closest competitor, there is a statistically significant reduction in capital value.
The estimated reduction is between $8,000,000,000 and $12,000,000,000!!!!!!!
That is a hell of a lot of money as sentiment moved against his sponsors!!!

Anyone in the public eye whether they are sportsmen/women, singers, models, actors, CEO of a major company or whatever should be aware that behaving in a dubious manner is going to have some effect on their "brand image" especially when they are heavily sponsored to the tune of the sums that Tiger is.
Sounds like a kid in a candy store who couldn't stop dipping into all the different jars
An incredible golfer that clearly has some personal issues
