in reference to that picture i would suggest your electrician refers the his regs preferably bs7671:2008 page 100. and read the bit under 522.6.6 or look in his on site guide as there is a diagram showing permitted zones for cable runs and he has met neither, along with many other factors. many find knowing this sad but its my job, and there are many bodge it and leg its out there.
I have been on the phone this morning and have been told that the guy is registered up to the 17th edition. He Agreed with me when i mentioned that he may have the qualifications but it doesn't mean that he went by the rules. He is going to try and come out to me today for an inspection.
At least at the end of the day i will have peace of mind, thanks Mike, i wish you had done my kitchen lol

Sorry to see about all those problems SS. I can understand how you feel and it must be like banging your head on the wall.

No, not really, i had the bloke from Apollo out and he told me everything was above board, then i had the council electrical surveyor out. He told me that because of a change in regulations they were now allowed to have cabling in a horizontal position. I have some that goes behind a work surface. He said that he had told Apollo that he would rather they didnt do it that way but they were allowed to. Its because of the circuit breaker or something. It would cut before it electrocuted anyone, very comforting 
As for the massive trunking that runs along the top of the walls, he admitted that if i owned my house they would not have done it that way, it would have gone under the floorboards upstairs. But as it stands it is acceptable, although totally unnecessary in his opinion.

Everything has now been plastered over and painted so its looking a lot better. Still waiting for my work surfaces to arrive then the tiling goes up. Floor being done tomorrow. I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel

No man of the house to sort stuff like that for me so i have to begrudgingly accept it....but i have not made their job easy i can tell ya
I have been having the floor laid today and what a difference. The bloke has done a great job with the floor tiles and believe me i inspected every nook and cranny, great job and so nice to have a floor at last. I have taken a pic of the floor so far, mess included lol. Miles better than concrete
Still no work surfaces and my sink is still in its box as you can see, but its getting there
