I got a belt cp v2 for christmas, it was just under £200, I crashed it within 20 minutes of flying it for the first time. 6 channel beast, awesome bit of kit, but ile be getting it repaired and going to a flying club before I use it again

I bought one of the 3 channel syma metal heli's (mentioned earlier) and they are really good.

They are probably too easy to fly really, can't believe how different these new mini heli's are. I've got one of the 1st pico z ones and a chinook which is a year or so newer than pico z. This new metal one is unreal, the little gyro does an amazing job.

Only trouble with these mini toy ones is the controls are different from the 6ch ones. I wish my big heli was as stable as this little one, nose in would be a breeze then.

I've had a few 'cheapie' indoor 3 channel copters, and the best one seems to be a Syma S026 chinnock. You can get them for between £20-£30 depending where you look, most of the other cheap ones you see are useless in my trials!
Would like to try something a bit bigger and better!

Hi mate been into heli,s for a few years now have several made mistake of buying more than i could handle to start with, cost me packets . dont bother with the cheapies talk to someone like heliguy, buzzflyer or midland helicopters. theyare very helpful. start with a contra rotating heli first it'll give you experience with the basics (the blade mcx is brilliant very stable and easy to master and ideal indoors) then move on from there. Be warned they are very addictive and most of the coaxial (contra rotating) will only fly outside in dead calm weather condition Have fun regards rangi

I think the thing with flying helicopters is don't run before you can walk. A 3/4 channel helicopter is probably the best way to start. If you can hover nose in within a few minutes, then there is probably something wrong with you

I bought three from this guy for Christmas presents and they all arrived, great for £15 delivered (they come from HK). They are the earlier versions without a Giro, but my 11 year old daughter can fly them no probs (infact I managed to get her a pink one)

The Lama 3 or 4 is a good start, and I would strongly recommend steering well clear of collective pitch helcopter to start with. You need to walk before you attempt to run.

Buy a sim, something like Phoenix or Reflex XTR, as you can crash crash and crash again. A plane is an easier way to learn this sticks on, than a 6 channel collective pitch monster.

Walkera make some nice helicopters that are cheap. I've had most of them now, and first 6 channel collective pitch was a Walkera 4g3......... Very hard to fly as it's so fast and reacts instantly. Still got it, but moved onto the 4g6, that is bloody mint.

Got a number of 450 Tarots and a Align 500 as well, and they are lovely and stable outside in the wind, when set-up correctly

Anyway, hope this helps, Phill
