As above, you'd be well advised to drive it like there's a baby's head between your right foot and the throttle pedal until you've had it set up properly.

See this so many times.

Mapped a newage sti a while back where the guy had spent so much money modding it, with turbo, induction kit, fmic but fell out of love with it when it was running like a pig (not mapped) and sold it in the trade. A real shame cos he never got to fell the benefit of the mods although he was lucky it didnt go bang in the meantime.

I mapped it for the garage that took it in and once set up right it found a buyer almost straightaway.

As said - it needs mapping to make it safe at the very least - it would be a real shame to see another engine rebuild required because of a lacking of mapping.

Beyond that, any mod that is worthwhile in terms of performance needs mapping to IMO (or at the very least checking)

That "may" have worked while it was a 2 litre engine without many mods, but it won't be matched to the 2.5 engine with those other items.
Is there any proof of purchase for all these mods BTW?

I think people were only shouting because it would be a shame to ruin a car that appears to have a nice spec just because the mapping was ignored.

I actually think people were shouting because he seemed to be asking the same thing as many times as possible in as many different ways as possible.

By the sounds of things he knows nothing about his car and it probably has had some sort of map done on it given that it's lasted 30K miles and lets face it, it aint gonna have been an easy 30K miles!!!

Those mods with no mapping = a car that runs nothing like an Impreza surely?

At the end of the day mate even with all that done if you go and get a re-map dont expect big power on 440cc injectors!!!
You need to be going bigger than that....then getting it mapped by a good mapper!!!

nie

As mentioned my advice would be to upgrade the injectors form 440s
What turbo have you got?
What intercooler have you got? Top mount? Front Mount?
What ECU have you? As it doesnt sound like it is standard having lasted 30k.
The ECU is in the passenger footwell - under the carpet. I used to think it was the numbers on the outer case that were relevant. Unscrew the outer case and on the chip board there should be a big number. From that any mapper will be able to tell you what ECU it is.

On a 2.5 a return to sump catch can and an oil cooler can be a very good plan too

As all the others say - I strongly suggest you take it to a decent mapper so he can check out the spec as well.

Best of luck with it
Steve
