I actually wouldn't mind separating the stuff, if we were given a 'real' recycling bin. What we have is basically a black storage box, that only gets collected once a fortnight. You can't add bags at the side of it either.
That is the issue I have with our white bag. Fair enough I can fill it to the brim with plastic bottles and cereal boxes etc. BUT, when they just throw the bad at the bottom of the street, and it gets blown away. I get annoyed. I want to 'reduce my carbon footprint'.... so give me a proper bin, and empty it!

My green bin hasn't been collected for ages despite putting the thing out, they either moan that it is to heavy or the lid is 3mm open.... have tried standing on it but it don't stay down...

I'm gonna put it out next week and wait for the lazy ****ers to make an appearance and then load the bastid bin on to the truck myself!!!

If they didn't want to do manual work and collect rubbish they should have got a proper ****ing education!!

The thing that annoys me... my next door neighbor is a brother in law to the geezer who drives the recycle bin lorry. When the parents go on holiday, the son sometimes forgets to put th bins out. So... he very often gets his lads to makes sure all the bins are present and correct! Nothing wrong with having to climb over their fence and find the key..... unlock the gate...... take the bins down...... lock the gate back up..... climb back over the fence and make sure that nobody saw them do it.

Exactly. If they really want things to be recycled, and not tossed into the 'normal' bin, give us something worthwhile.

Two weeks worth of recylable waste (most stuff can go in there now) will simply not fit in a storage box/bag.

I don't think they really care about being green. They just want to be seen to be doing something and it's a good excuse to fine people etc. for 'breaking the rubbish rules'.

Thats true, I don't think that the local councils care what the outcome is, as long as they are seen to be doing something, or 'making an effort to reduce' something.

That's because Council employees salary and pension increases still have to be paid for

I work for the County council and my wage hasn't gone up, and our pensions are being fettled with to save everyone money

Plus they downsize every year so they are theoretically quids in already as they have less people to pay.

To be fair, it's not the local goverments fault...... It's the main goverments fault for dishing out less money to the local goverments and they have to make up the short fall somewhere.
