The pipe you've put the red breather on is fine like you have it, but it will make a lot of noise.
I take it looking at the pics you've blocked the old dv and idle valve holes on the intake correctly? If you have a leak here, it will give you the problems you have.
i can only thing i can sugest is check all pipes and plugs, as said above.

ive just changed everything back to tmic and left the breather on and its still doing the same. so ive put the front mount back on and narrowed it down to either breather pipe needs to go back into air flow box or maf is gone, but i have cleaned it

why did you not get the work done by someone who knows what they are doing? it amazes me that people take on this work changing this and that without knowing how an engine works mechanically. to save a few pounds labour cost they take on work like exhausts, intercoolers, bovs, turbos etc etc and have no notion of how to fix something when it all goes **** up. good subaru mechanics are NOT that expensive and can save you a load of money in the long run.
maybe some people like to do things themselves instead of chucking money around for other people to do it.are you a mechanic by any chance???
this site is good but there are some very un-helpfull know it alls on here.
and yes i am a qualified mechanic for over 18 years before joining forces and even i have asked for advice on here.
lets try giving the bloke a hand not a gobfull....

Ah, but bigsinky DOES have a point.
Very few people start ripping bits off a wiring loom etc since they don't know how it all works.
But there are an alarming number who take on major works on their cars without any real knowledge, then try and get if fixed on the internet.
As b/sinky says, paying for someone else's knowledge and know-how is a good idea.

I thought it was the breather hose!
For what its worth, I started on cars a few years back, and did all my first jobs with the mechanic I use.
I can now do a lot more, but thats largely as a result of having an MR2 turbo, and a very helpful forum. Im staggered by how much money I have spent on this car already, so can understand why people ask questions.
A lot of problems will have been seen a hundred times, so always good to eliminate the simple ones, then get a specialist if not.

half of this thread is useless guff. simple fact is this chap is asking for some help (which is what i kinda part thought forums like these were for) and people try shooting him down for giving it a go.
1.simple fact is theres a large percentage of peeps on here who simply cant afford to chuck there car in a garage to get things fitted. id love to drop my car off at RCM every time i want something putting on- ant gonna happen though
2. always good to learn, best way of doing so is by cocking up sometimes
3. 94 scooby, my money is on a small vacuum hose thats been damaged/ split. have you tryied caping off both end of the ic system and presure testing it?

+1
the guys here for help, and in 5 years time some of you will be asking him for advice because he got stuck in and learnt from it!
....unlike some of you who will just be 'taking it back to my mechanic'

Hear Hear! I started off not knowing a lot about cars... and i find i learn by doing things myself... started changing oil myself from the age of 17 and can now do engine swaps, clutch changes, gearbox change myself... im no mechanic, but now know how to do all this stuff myself and love getting my hands dirty.

I've just looked at my motor and were you have fitted the red filter, breather!
I am pretty sure it isn't if you follow the pipework back and under I'm sure it goes to the idle air control valve, now if this is the case your car will cut out as the valve will be spazing out as you are taking atmospheric air through there and the intake preasure will not be right so it will work realy weird and kill the car, you can confirm this by checking your fault codes wich will give you idle air control valve fault clear the fault code AFTER you reconnect the pipe to it's original position, hope this helps.
Col.
P.s how come on a forum for avid users of a certain vehicle when someone asks for help they get shot down, IMO that is bollocks we should help each other thats what gives the subaru community a good name after all.
Lol didn't notice it had two pages

im sorry to because i thought this site was here to help people. and offer support for those that want to do their own work because they enjoy it. can people not just appreciate the fact this person has got off his *** and actually attempted something. he has done alot more than what other lazy cheque book people do.
i take my hat off to you for trying.
if your car is only boosting to 16psi now. what was it on before. have you touched any of the pipes around the turbo. and vacum hoses?
