as for the ones on ebay i have beem emailing him, he assures me that the calipers / pistons / seals are in good condition with no weeping etc. i also got a price out of him to end the auction early which was £650 so if you wanted them think about and get prices for the cost of the
mounting barckets
new set of bolts
bells
and that all up and i am sure it will come to around the 900-1k mark for a set that is not designed soley for the impreza, the choice is yours mate

It is amazing, how closely the same our thought process is.
I did not want to disappoint erchie's search (hope not doing right now either), but after I posted "checking" I thought through the same as you did. This EVO kit is definitely way too expensive for being a bolt-on to my car, plus most likely the price will go up later on the auction.
As for Erchie's set. So far that is the most decent choice I/we have found. Unfortunately, no 6 pots anywhere on a decent price and/or decent condition. I keep on looking. I have looked at several other car calipers, but in the end the cost would add up (as in this case) to have a new(ish) Subaru specific set.
I wish I could win the lottery and buy a brand new set and get this over with, but as the economy is right now, it seems even Lottery goes bankrupt
Anyways, I keep my eye on a good set still. Most likely, if I do not find anything by around March, then I will have to wait another year (happened to see the same thing last year )
As I usually say, "things can take a totally different direction in just a split moment", I hope they will and they will for the good.

Guy's no offence to me at all as I I'm searching anyway as I was I your position looking for 6 pots and ended up with the 4 pots now the problem is I'm always gonna want 6 pots just wished I had not been impatient and waited till the right kit was availiable

Exactly the same thing I am worried about, if I get something that I can, instead of what I want, then might regret the decision later...
We'll see, might be both of us lucky and some AP dealer will be doing a "liquidation sale"...

you both are looking for a set of AP's and i am in the need of some as my 4 pots need new disks and i am looking at best part of £1000 to get the bigger 330mm disks fitted to the smaller 304mm calipers i have as the 304 kit just does not cut it on the track.
so i am going to approach a few companies regarding a NEW kit. if enough people are up for it this might make spending the money on a new kit worth while rather than spending £900 + on a used kit then replacing the bolts at cost and possible new disks as you cant always trust the seller to be honest of condition so if the price is lower enough on a group buy it may be worth that little bit extra over used.

we will see mate, i am waiting on some prices and lets hope there are some people who want to get on board if not i will have to buy new anyway as the 304 kit does not really cut it on the track. they are fine for day to day driving no problem with them but i have had them out on track and they dont do it for me, as i said i have looked onto the 330mm being fitted and by the time i have ahd brackets made, spacers made, bought the disks and bolts plus fitting its not far off £1k, i am only missing the calipers at that point and they are £460 each so then there will be another set of pads another set of bolts and the overall cost will be near on 2.5k inc labour so might as well but a new kit to start with.
the fact that you want some, erchie wants some there is 3 of us already so we should only need to find 2 more to get a discount. so will await the price and see if that drums up anymore intereset

I do not have that much money. Nothing against Ian discs and all (though I have never tried them and for whatever reason I trust more the ones I have tried myself personally).
If I would have enough funds, I would get those without question, but I also have to think about shipping etc.
Maybe somebody buys my stuff I advertise on here in several topics, then no question I will participate in the group buy. I also thought about buying the calipers only for like less then 1000 GBP, but then again I would face the problems of mounting kits, discs etc.
Freakin' brakes are killing me. Stupid Subaru should have done nothing else but provide brakes with my car that are suitable...

I have seen Carl Davey's setup running CP7040 calipers with 330mm discs, but no other setup like that ever since or before, because CP7040 was designed for 355-362 mm discs (18").
IMHO rather have a CP5200 4 pot setup over a 6 pot CP7040 w/330 mm discs.

We have tested the 5200 caliper , against the 7040 caliper , and the 7040 calipers is far superior , it only stands to reason really as the pads are a lot bigger.
You are giving out incorrect info regarding the 6 pots , the 5570 , 5555 and 7040 calipers all have identical piston sizes , so will all work the same , one will not work better than another , yes the 7040 use a different pads shape , but then they are also half the price for DS2500's , £110 against £220 ,
The 5570 caliper is basically a 5555 calipers , but machined down to fit a thinner disc , it was brought about to fit into smaller gaps than a 330mm x 32mm disc would fit.
The 7040 caliper is a design that came about after Brembo bought out AP , and is a mass produced caliper which is why its cheaper , as there are variants of this caliper that are fitted to quite a few production cars , the dust sealing is much better on the 7040 caliper compaired to the 5555 and 5570's , the amount of times I have reconditioned these calipers , and they end up costing a fortune to replace pistons due to pitting on them as they are not fully covered in use like the 7040 calipers are.
The 7040 calipers would be my choice to fit over all of the ones mentioned , its also a bonus as they are also cheaper.

I do not mean to **** you off or anything (most likely I already did ), because I know you understand brakes/work with them etc. However, to me the other calipers more sympathetic then the CP7040 and as I have stated it is my own opinion! nothing more, nothing less. I have seen/tested the CP6600 and CP5200 for instance and the CP5200 was far better in "real life" performance feel to me then the other. Fitting is better also etc.
Oh well, I guess I just have to stop relying on info given out on official websites...

You say about the race proven calipers , with a race caliper you are trying to shed as much weight as possible and trying to make it as stiff as possible , there will always be a compromise there , the 6600 and 7040 calipers are slightly heavier , and stiffer as they have thicker walls , but the weight would never be an issue to any road car , you would never feel the difference in a million years driving your car. The benifits on the 7040 are the dust sealing , which is very important on a road car as you want them to be as reliable as you can , race / rally cars get stripped very often , so you dont need them to last.
I have seen a lot of 5200 , 5570 and 5555 calipers to recondition that needed new pistons , when the pistons are about £30 each , it gets very expensive , it will never happen with the 6600 and 7040 because of the superior dust sealing.
