And there is this possible less drivetrain losses thing to consider......

Calling all UK STi owners - needed on 27th April for the PE RR day to get some more PAW vs PAF figures......

me again first of all the car had 3500 miles on it so not copletly brand new and obviously starting to loosen up
i know it is a bit naughty but when i test drove it i had a stopwatch and did the safest performance test 30-70 through gears the best it could do in all road conditions was 5.1
now i know it sounds like bulls**t but i got straight into my car and 4.1, 4.2, 4.1 even if the stopwatch is not accurate it was used against both cars

In real life, safe road driving a second differnce in performance means very little, fractions of seconds less so. On a race track, sure it makes a difference. But if you are driving on the public road in such a way that it does make a difference then personally I would question your road driving.

It's much more fun having a car that will corner and handle sweetly than one that can 'just' edge past the car in front at a 120 Mph, Safer too. - I must be getting old...

You buy and run the car, that you want to. Which is best? The one you bought obviously.

BTW This thread is teetering on the verge of muppetdom so expect it to arrive there sooner rather than later.

STi 0-100 in 9 (or even 10) seconds saxo boy, and that for a standard one?

Thats a pretty tall order. I'd be more than impressed if you could back that up with some evidence.

edited to say: Ah upon closer examination I think you were making the same point! :-)

Re: the Skyline having 280bhp and heavier than an STi, and still having the ability to totally $hit all over it...well, its because the skyline has a few more horses than 280...'280' is the 'gentleman's agreement' figure, to stay on the right side of the law in Japan. I was talking to an R34 owner about this on Saturday. A more realistic figure would be around 400bhp (perhaps thru simple delimiting?).

To me, nothing in life seems to be more desireable than an R34.

400bhp??????? I doubt it very much. Friends of mine with Skyline's who have had full decat exhausts and ram pod filters have seen between 350 and 400bhp on the Dyno. I would suspect a "standard" Skyline produces probably about 300bhp, or somewhere around that figure. 400bhp is the where the start of the "Big Money Syndrome" starts

It's like the STi's, I've heard people saying "they have about 300bhp as standard" which is clearly rubbish!!!

Funny opionions seem to differ greatly on this car. I would perosnally never drive a car like that. Bit like putting Anne widecombes head on Gizzelles body.

Does these cars come with LSDs or not?

C,mon guys. All of us that have got scoobys are in fast cars. Does it really matter if one is 0.01 of a second faster to 60mph than another. No it doesnt. If on the racing track it would. Anyway these times only show acceleration in a straight line. Remember cars have to go around corners as well . Thats when things matter more.

Chip.

Uk Sti 0-60 2.6 secs
30-70 3.2 secs
0-100 7.3 sec

See I can say silly times as well.
