If you refer to or have dealt with cat c cars the reg number does not change
The car does not get re registered it merely has its identity checked.#
Hence the title
Vehicle Identity Check

I also know for a fact that a load of cat b cars have been registered using same method.

If I offer a log book matching tags and the shell its easy and legal.

No offence intended either its just i have seen it done loads of times, as previosuly stated by another it is easier to use original shell/id etc but there is always a way as long as it is obvious it is not done to cover up something dodgy.
What about all the reshelled cars out there
If i sold a damaged car needing shelling and he used his shell it is same difference
Not all swaps/ re shells / repaired cars are dodgy you know again no offence intended

are some people talking about selling shells with their genuine id papers, if so that is different to giving a car a new chassis number, even if that doesnt make sense as the only thing tieing the car to the papers is the shell when everything else can be changed. maybe i havent tread the whole thread correctly but i think that buying a shell and the matching papers is fine (i did it when i broke my saloon) but buying papers and chassis plates to renumber an exisiting car is illegal, the guy who bought my shell and id papers was going to be using the numbers for the shell he bought off me ( at least thats what he told me anyway as he was keen to take the number plates too to save him getting new ones made)
