My new one at 600+ with hawkeye box should get nearer 200mph lol
i was agreeing with you daz. my car is geared for something rediculous. will never get there though. wind resistance, long enough track etc etc.

When you drive a Scooby at those sorts of speeds do they slow down at all as far as acceleration is concerned, or do they keep pulling all the way?

Have you got a big cliff you can push it off to reach that speed or is he just gonna keep pushing till he is fecked and the shorts will be to chamge into as the others are covered in sweat

Personally 142 on the GPS 330/320 was a whole lot higher on the clock. Never doing it again and I had a front mount fitted at the time intake temp was 8 degrees celcius at the throttle body intake

lol sorry guys. It was a combo of a slow connection at the time and me being an impatient tw*t (bloody computers!)... Plus the fact that 4th one appeared at the top of page 3!... I had no idea - I was 'mugged'.

Interesting thread,i did not know that the engines could not take prolonged abuse.I owned a legacy gtb before my impreza and in the 2 years i owned it i would constantly drive it between 100 - 130 mph most days to and from work. The only problem i had was when i chased a porsche down the M6 one sunday morning @ 145 mph,as i came off at junction1 on the downshift blew 4th & 2nd gears to bits.
My 99uk turbo hit 144 mph on sat nav totally standard with a prodrive back box ,and my foot was welded to the bulkhead- not 1 mph faster.

Very true, I was messing about with my mp3 player when I was doing 145mph on a bend and didn't notice I was getting too close to a car, moving over to overtake the car seemed a little scary

Joz not disputing what your saying ,but as i posted i had my legacy gtb for 2 years and apart from changing the oil every 3 months that car got plenty of abuse. I am not saying i drove it every where on the red line ,but why would i buy a car with 2 turbo's to drive at 60 mph(unless i was in 2nd gear).
After getting a good redundancy pay off from the post office,i decided i was going to have a year off work and enjoy driving the car,and if the engine went bang ,then i would simply buy another engine from bucks subaru and be a bit more cautious - but it never did.
Which is why i posted: i did not know the engines could not take prolonged abuse, i do not drive my impreza like i did my legacy due to the fact i have a honda civic as my day to day work horse(bulletproof engines) and the impreza only gets some hammer at the weekends. Thanks for the advice .

i didnt have the hawkeye box on for too long before the engine blew(again),so didnt have chance to do many top speed runs.the fastest i got to which was no where near red line, my avcr said 282kph,which is around the 175mph mark i think as my speedo had gone off the clock.but beleive me at that speed something that looks miles away is on top of you very fast.

midnight, I was only talking about holding the engine at high revs at WOT e.g. on the motorway or a long straight on a trackday. I'm certain, if you do that for often/long enough, then the engine won't be long for this world (especially a turbo'd motor).

If you have a good thrash on your fave A or B roads, on the other hand, and assuming your AFR's are okay, then there's no reason why the motor should last a long time, as you're prob at WOT for only about 10-20% of the 'journey' time, and for relatively short periods when you are!

That seems so long ago now

Would love to have carried on with that run but the rain and wind make it a little sketchy.

Mine will do 194 ish (GPS speed) at 7500 but might touch 200 if I raised the rev limit a tad. Gonna give it a go shortly

Amazing that you are going to do that with circa 500bhp when RCMS still have not got there with a claimed 850+bhp

It depends on the run up you have Duncan, if you intend to do 200mph legally within the confines of an airfield for example, then you will be limited to around 1.4 miles to get there. Under these confines you would typically need 800+bhp.

If you intend just running it up the road an unlimited distance whilst watching your GPS, maybe best you don't post about that publically !!!

Def not on the road .. no thank you.

Gonna be on the runway (a nice local one to me with a huge length of road) so obviously not unlimited in length but should be enough to see the physical top speed of the car is. I have no idea on how aero versus horsepower will affect things up at the top end - be an eye opener for sure. I am under no illusions as to actually achieving that speed after all it felt pretty quick at marham doing 156mph
