Thats interesting, what runway is that then local to Cambridge?
I thought that Elvington at 1.9m and Bruntingthorpe at 2.0 miles were the longest runways in the UK (apart from perhaps Heathrow and Gatwick
)
As I mentioned above, that gives around 1.4 - 1.5 miles to do the run up, depending on how brave/mad you are!
Believe me when I say it needs at least 1/2mile to stop from 200+mph as you cant just 'hit' the brakes !

There are a huge number of airfields in east anglia.
Marham, Honington, Woodbridge etc etc Honington is about the same as bruntingthorpe (at around 3km) but also has the benefit of a nice sweeping right hander onto the runway that can be taken at around 80. (if not more)
Is it a stupid question to consider tyre speed ratings at these speeds?
Its either that or the bowl at Millbrook

Quite a bit shorter I believe at approx 1.7 miles total length. There is a listing available of ALL military and commercial airfields past and present.
Bruntingthorpe also has a fast bend on approach but I only got 199mph there as the 1st half is uphill ! That was on plain Optimax way back then though.

More power or more distance !
On my 210MPH run at Elvington a few weeks later (on race fuel this time) the datalog showed I was still gaining 1mph every 3 seconds at 1.4 miles, extrapolated it looked like it had enough power to max out at approx 222MPH at just over 2.5 miles........or, more likely, take off and/or explode spectacularly

125 in a 52 plate wrx bug-eye with ppp on a private road and many unused revs. would have easily gone past 140, maybe even 150.... but i had new underwear on at the time and didn't want an "accident"

210 mph must be an awsome buz i cant imagine what that must feel like, bet it feels faster in an impreza than it would in a gugatti veyron at the same speed mate.

the pentland hills in edinburgh on the way to sanquhar from edinburgh theres about a 3mile stretch of road ( very thin lanes but smooth road nonetheless ) and most of its downhill makes for an exiting time lol the roads has its few dips so is a bit of a laugh , worst case scenario may be executing a few sheep if u come off the road though lol

I've been a pillion on a mate of a mate's Kwakker ZX9R.....
I've never been so scared/adrenalised in my life! The bloke was a great rider..... but utterly insane! One notable 'highlight' on that mental Sunday ride was that he power wheelied for ages - without foreforwarning me I might add - in between the 2 lanes of cars on a dual carriageway. All I could see was front wheel and sky....
Sorry for going off topic there.

Interesting fact of the day......
The latest 6sp manual Legacy 3.0 is geared for 284mph at 8000 rpm on 26" tyres
The latest 6sp manual Legacy 3.0 has sufficient power to get to approx 4000rpm
