What about the PPP STI what sort of torque do they have ?? Are they on the standard clutch

Yes, the clutch on a PPP car is standard original. The power/ torque increase in a PPP is minimal and the existing clutch can cope easily.

That was our 230 mm 400 / 400 rated clutch, which makes it more of a mystery as to why it should play up at a much lower power level than it is capable of.

You are correct though Trevor, we have changed a clutch for slip - first time for everything.

My car is down on expected power at 360bhp but torque is 396lbsft at 4000rpm. My view is, car weight-Newage wagon in full trim, 18" rims with 9" tyres, would be factors and in launch start situations, allbeit not that frequent, the clutch would have really been taking some punishment.
The new larger clutch from API appears to be working very well and a big thanks to them for the no-nonsense way in which it was resolved.

mate the cheepest ive seen the exedy stage one organic clutch ( as said most clutches are organic,,,, the only other type is sintered which is a paddle clutch generally and has no "bite" feel) anyway the cheepest i have found for em is scoobyworld,,, there 3296ish quid including vat !!!,,,, thats cheeper than i can sell to garages and my firm by ALOT of exedy clutches so seriously speak to neil@scoobyworld and hes a nice bloke too
