A Prophet is a brilliant film - head and shoulders above anything else named on this thread - but it will be in the Movie of the Year 2010 honours
I am not sure I agree with some of the views on Hurt Locker - I think the disposal guys cope with the massive stress in many different ways. Some are OCD level methodical (to an extent this guy was as he knew exactly how many bombs he had 'defused').
It also showed the degree of insanity that occurs with the stress of the job. I thought it did this better than Jarhead which told a similar story but with less tension.
The really clever bit of Hurt Locker was to show the bit at the end when he was home with his family - and actually how the adrenaline addiction had numbed him to ordinary life.
An 8/10 for me.
PS I thought UP was fantastic in parts but a little confused and directionless the more it proceeded. A bit like a house powered by balloons then

Avatar, and Inglorious for me.
1st because it rewrote the rules of cinema, the 2nd because it was classic old school Tarantino. Bring on Best actor oscar for Cristopher Waltz.

I watched death sentance last weekend, for a Kevin Bacon film it was surprisingly good.
Also Harry Brown with Michael Cain was good, as was The boat that rocked!
Other that I have watched lately and were 'ok' are Daybreakers and The lovely Bones, amongst others.
I watched the Anti Christ a few months back.

I've recently bought and watched this IP Man [Blu-ray] [2008]: Amazon.co.uk: Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Fan Siu-Wong, Xiong Dailin, Wong You-Nam, Simon Yam, Wilson Yip: DVD
It's an awesome martial arts film.
Geoff.

Hurt locker for me .
An off beat movie worth a look The Only Good Indian
THE COVE is not to be missed if you love dolphins then don't watch it , and certainly don't let your kids watch it. It is horrific cruelty by the japs.
For sheer cinematic beauty HOME this is one the the children to watch and marvel at the wonderful planet we live on and where its going 10/10
Worst FROZEN serious tripe.

Watched Daybreakers tonight. None of the cool that "The Lost Boys" had, very dystopian and grizzly in the sense of "The Island", and the gore of the last 15 minutes is a bit ott. Not sure if it's the best I've seen this year but certainly different and worth a watch. 7/10.

Just finished watching "kick ***" and believe me it lived up to its reputation, thoroughly enjoyable film.
However the film of the year is still to come. Just you wait till Tron is released. On my, it will be great
astraboy.

Surprised that wasnt already mentioned. Real thinking mans film. I must admit there are very few Di Caprio films I dislike. Watched Catch me if you can again the other day which is quality.
Avatar I found a better experience at home on blu ray with hd sound.
And yep The Hangover has to be the best comedy by far. Seen that about 5 times now and cracks me up. Thought it would be the usual "best scenes are all in the trailer" type film but was pleasantly suprised.

For me Law Abiding Citizen was brilliant.
Harry Brown was very powerful with some great one liners in it.
Also really like the much hyped A-Team film. Great character reinactments I thought with a modern day twist.
Holding out for Saw VII which I heard is due on Halloween intact with previous ones. Hoping I can see it in normal 2D though
