ET is the distace from the centre of the wheel to the inside of the mating face with the hub/discs.

So an et of 53 on a 7.5" wide wheel will stick out 6.5mm further than the OE 7" wheel with the same 53 et. The 7.5" wheel will also be 6.5mm closer to the shocks/springs than the OE 7" wheel too.

I've got a set of Inovite ST VI which are 17x7 i think the ET is 45. Tyres are 215 45 17. When I put them on they rubbed the rear archs badly so I had my arches rolled. They still rub sometimes which is getting to be a pain so i'm going to change then in the spring.

Stevie1982, no such thing as a stupid question really mate, you're only silly if you don't ask. It sounds like the people with the sorts of wheels you're after are giving some good advice. Stick as close to your original offset as you can, i had the rear arches rolled on my old mk2 Astra when i put bigger wheels on that, would you consider doing that to your Scooby? Is your suspension modified at all btw?

Quasi - i have proflex coilovers which were fitted to the gobstopper, cant change the stiffness but can adjust the ride height which is a bonus i guess, dont mind rolling the arches just would rather not if i can help it.

looking at a set of comoptive mo's or revolution milleniums which i have a few owners say they are running them with no problems and others with smaller rims saying they do. so think i will just have to chance it and hope for the best lol.

I keep having to raise my BC's up at the back to avoid rubbing, but car is going to look like a dragster if I carry on like this.

Most people I have spoken to with 7.5's get rubbing, but it doesnt get mentioned much, and a local bodyshop said rolling classic arches was not easy.

Strangely, as the guy is well into his motorsport, he did suggest that a different solution is to shave down the hubs to get the wheels to sit a little further in!

You could only do that on the rears as the fronts only just clear the Brembo's, but not sure if you could run different offsets front and rear?

All the best mate, maybe you could ask the supplier to try the back ones first and see how the car handles them? that's what they did with mine and it showed the arches wouldn't clear the new wheels, so i got them rolled flat and went back to the wheel supplier and the car slid over the new wheels just fine, the car had been stiffened and lowered too.

Sorry i've got another question about this.

Would 7.0x17 ET45 sit closer to the arch than 7.5x17 ET45??

right i have to options

i can get a set of 17 or 18 revolution milleniums both in anthricite or silver.

firstly i think 18's look the best and as i have 17's already i thought i would get them in the 18's for show and use thew 17's on the track

i really wanted anthricite but they only do them in 8" where they silver are in 7.5"

they are an ET48 so which would you suggest going for would i be best to get the 7.5 to be safe and just get them powder coated or risk it on the 8" as some say they have no issues others say they do, so do you thinki would be best off with a 7.5x18

opinions please

lol this could drag on for a while Stevie.

Can you not get somebody near to you to let you try a set of wheels of the same size and offset?

also anger as mentioned in an earlier post you have had your arches rolled too

think i might stick with 7.5 to be safe so they tyre is not stretched as much and so it protects the rim too

I got them off a Type R track car on here and he did the Ring with them on and there isnt any marks on them from rubbing at all

I have a set of 17x8 with a ET35 and they only rubbed slighty on very dodgy roads as well

Photos of the rolled arches would be good, as I was told they wouldnt do a classic- would solve a lot of issues. Raised my BC's by another 1cm today, but havent tried yet as fitting braided brake lines.

When I first put these wheels on the slightest bump would give me a horrible rubbing noise. Having them rolled stopped this from happening on all but the biggest bumps with a load on board.
