all the peope that say that it's an americanism, say your date of birth whatever it is at for example a job interview in the format two thousand and ten. In my case one thousand nine hundred and seventy eight and see if you get a funny look

Just call it two-O-one-O, and think of Tiger WOOds (although he had more than two and one f**ing Os).

It's not an americanism to say 'twenty-ten'. It's an americanism to say 'two-thousand-ten' as opposed to 'two-thousand-and-ten'.
I vote for 'twenty-ten' as it's more in line with how we'd usually say the year, not including the last ten years.
