We are good on the Slush front here in Cheshire, had a lovely walk in Alderley edge before it went all wet, the dog seems to have developed a new traction control program for snow now he is used to it and seems to allow a little oversteer wheras his first go before Christmas involved a lot of crashing into shrubs and garden furniture.

Snowing now still though it's not really settling at the moment - going to take the dog for a walk I think

I'm holidaying in Snowdonia at the moment and it's living up to its name I've got photos of the knee deep snow I walked through... I chickened out going further up the pass where it apparently got chest deep.

I did also get photos of the abandoned beemer and the van that tumbled off the pass and was only stopped by a group of trees before it went another few 100' down to the stream at the bottom.

The rain turned to sleet and now we've got snow again... got to say I am loving the A4's 4WD at the moment!

I've twice seen a scoob with a very memorable number plate this week - once at Pen Y Pas - the car park there was under a foot of snow and there were loads of abandoned cars.

No thaw here, as yet. Was raining earlier and we were hopeful it would wash some snow away. No chance, it is solid ice now. Car is useless

Please post a pic with the snow up to your knees, Kieran. Please do not cheat by kneeling down

I do agree, there is a lot of snow in North Wales. Higher you go, heavier and deeper it gets.

Will do - but can't for a couple of days... iffy 'net connection here. I'll get them sorted on photobucket when I get back.

We think our "Freddie" might be a bit of a cross with a Maine Coon somehow. He has got one ear with a split in it like one of those types.

He goes crackers in the cold weather too and screeches around the house doing 4 paw drifts round the corners and dives underneath rugs so all you can see is a big lump in the rug. Bit of a nutter!

Well - we went out again today...

That's my mate, not me...

Managed to ground the car in snow further down... somehow, and God knows how, a bleeding 207 made it through this REALLY deep bit and we just sat on top of the snow. Tried digging the car out, but were rescued by a couple of local farmers in a Defender. Although in our defense, we had to push THEM out of the same drift before they could tow US out! Then we had 3 miles of terrifying zero traction downhill bends to negotiate before we got onto a road only mildly mind-numbing.

The best of it was: when we got to end of it all we drove past a Road Closed sign which wasn't at the other end of the road

We were up there when there was a group from Rotherham (friendly lot!) sledging beyond the beemer.... and a posh lady and her brood sledging from the beemer down. Friday afternoon.

That photo above is at the other end of the road... we were about 1/4 mile from where I turned back when going uphill.

Wow, very deep snow indeed.

Careful driving around, on those Welsh bendies. Driving conditions still remain very hazardous on rural highlands.

Chris, tell Ms Swiss. It's ghastly. Walking the dog tonight was awful. 6inches of snow and getting worse. No work for me tomorrow

That was in a back happy BMW
The road is the main road - the equivalent of say the M4.
Often you cant actualy see the road it just disappears and blends into the countryside.
Often the main problem - which is what I had for 15 minutes before that pic was taken is the visibilty when you get a blizzard and the wind direction pushes it onto your screen as you are driving straight into it!

from what i've heard i'd have expected to see about a foot in your pic, the forecasters really seem to going a bit OTT.
fair enough it must be very hard to predict with winds etc, but they're qouting 4"+ and around here it's melting it's coming down but it's too warm to settle.

still, Met Office is doing a better bit of guess work than Metcheck is. they predicted rain all day for my postcode yesterday

good job it's not coming down too hard though, i just went out to find i'd left my drivers window down about 2 inches all night what a ****
