Very, Very Heavy Snow to fall .....

A delivery company i'm waiting on to deliver dog food is saying to the place I ordered it from that they are not going out in the snow as it is too dangerous. WTF in the South East it isn't that bad and it is their foofing business to deliver goods. It should have been delivered yesterday before the snow even got down here anyway so what a pathetic excuse. Ordering stuff off the web is just becoming worse and worse with absolutely useless delivery companies.

Well, struggled into work .... it's 40cms here - the Scooby made it look embarrassingly easy (but I am an experienced highly skilled driver, so maybe it was just me? )
Then an announcement at work came around that the managers are encouraged to send their staff home in a staged fashion ..... I told the troops that last one out is a big girls blouse and gone we were

now you see why I'm after a 4 wheel drive car
I have 20mins of that to get to my house. with a hill to tackle like it too, my sisters 4.2 A8 can cope with it when it is like this, BUT my T5 is useless (I didn't live here when I chose/bought the T5)

very comfy , fast , handles better than you'd think , uber reliable and an all-round nice car to drive , and the 2.3 5cylinder turbo sounds superb
yes It really is a joy to own, it has been superb for the 3 years I've owned it. stage 1 MTE map 285bhp-400nm..so she can still dance when needed but the complaint is that it is FWD
not a problem in the dry or wet due to the very well set-up map...but useless on ANYTHING other than a flat road in the snow/ice
the trouble is I live out in a very rural area and we don't get gritters out here, there is a hill to get up to get to my house and anything other than a 4 wheel drive car or quad bike cant get up it during the winter
I didn't live where I am now when I bought it otherwise I'd have bought a 4 wheel drive car instead

Walked into work this morning, quite pleasurable ..... had lunch at work, came home early ..... all things I would never dream of doing on a 'normal' non-snow day!

Since Monday, we have been blessed with ample snow. Tuesday was the heaviest fall up here. It took my son 3 and a half hours to drive from Broughton to Wrexham beause the blizzard took over, and the traffic became standstill. It remains heavy the grounds of Flintshire villages. I shouldn't have bothered, but I dared taking my car out to Tesco today. It was performing like a p!sshead on the snow. Scoobies are really cwap on the snow, fair play. More so, if you have chavved them up with low profile tyres like me. Back home, it even got stuck on my own drive FFS! It is half hanging on the pavement now. Apparently, more snow is on it's way over the weekend. Ah well, we have plenty of good films at home to watch, and piles of work from home to get on with. We shall survive.

Well I can state, categorically that Michelin Pilot Sports are CRAP in the snow. I've got them on my Octavia vRS and it can't get up the slight incline to our estate.
On the other hand, Toyo Proxes as fitted to my wife's A3 1.8T Sport are excellent. Must be the chevron tread direction on the Toyos where as the Michelins have circumferential grooves which are great at getting rid of water but useless at biting into snow and slush.

I am getting a bit bored of the snow, in all honesty. It has been snowing on and off here since before Christmas. It was brilliant to have white and snowy Christmas. But since after the new year day, it is proving to be a right pain in the @rse. I have had to cancel many work appointments and meetings, and I need to be out and about. But no can conquer the mighty Nature, so I have to put up with it. So, looking at the positive side, I will go sledging with my family tomorrow.

I`m sick of my life now, another inch or so to shovel this morning.
Least i managed to make it look half decent, the car dealers next door cheated and paid for a JCB to come and clear their parking lot.
The youngun reckons i have probably had to shovel a couple of tonnes of snow now
Nice of him to make such a fantastic judgement, would have been even nicer if he had not of broken his arm just before the snow came down, so he could have given me a fecking hand.

Yeah
Not a bad car tbh, better then expected.
I have been sitting in the office nice and warm watching the lads at the car dealers next door, they liked the coloured snow effect so much they decieded to copy me, only they did not know that i used coloured foam from the carwash in a 9litre spray bottle, so they have instructed the lower class minions to do the same, but with aerosols
Holy crap imagine how cold them cans will be, not to mention the cost
One of them came over and asked if i had any more of that "pink paint" left
If any snow falls tonight i am going to redo it orange tomorrow

Sounds joyful and satisfactory for your area, Quasi.

The funs just getting started; People are learning and starting to realise that they can't just have a couple of days offski and now have to pull their finger out.
Plus the feejits seem to be getting the hang of driving in the snow. Either that, or the really bad ones have crashed their cars or given up.

Yep - agree - I think the novelty is wearing off rapidly.
Monday will see people having to get into work .... but, today, some schools have already said they will be shut - boils my blood, that!
