Stuck for 3 hours, with snow gradually settling between the cars. Eventually got to a roundabout and looped back in the direction of home, just got in a few minutes ago.

Last time I was on the M4, heading to Swindon, with snow, people were creating their own exit ramps. LMAO It was hilarious! And it was only about an inch of snow, would have been circa 1994/1995.

But the A417, I think I don't recall not been in the UK for a long time, but I clocked 145mph, past the Honda factory (A417/A419?) and not nicked. Audi 80 V6 Avant.

Yeah, funny if snow just struck in winter. Down here, we got snow, albeit in the "hills" but not seen in living memory in Cooma, this "summer".

Glasiers melting, pouring ice cold fresh water into the oceans? Nope! CO2? Nope. Something else is creating this cool spell.

Don't knock it, he was bang on the money last time, it said heavy snow to fall then a little while later I looked out at the six or seven inches that had fallen, the Igloo has nearly gone now so needs some more snow for it's bigger and better replacement.

At least some are happy to pay for me

Looks like heavy snow is once again possible this week coming - not sure where yet, but the South has had more than its share this year.

just watched sky news weather. And as usual they dont seem to want to give much away regarding the where and when of the snow. All very casual about it.

Looks like we're in for it Thursday night into Friday morning. Approx 4mm of rain, falling as snow, so that's a significant fall.

Confirmed ..... Friday, Snow in the South - could be very heavy too!!

Batten down the hatches, stock the cupboards, get your fuel, bread and milk before the others catch up!

Weather forecast: UK for Thursday to Saturday:

Wintry showers in northern and eastern parts. Rain spreading from the northwest later with snow possible, particularly over higher ground, becoming confined to the west on Saturday. Brighter spells inland.

Updated: 1529 on Tue 26 Jan 2010

UK Outlook for Sunday 31 Jan 2010 to Tuesday 9 Feb 2010:

Cold at first, with overnight frosts. Wintry showers likely on exposed northern and eastern coasts, but it should be drier and brighter elsewhere, particularly inland. Rain expected to spread from the west on Monday, with snow possible, particularly over hills and in the far north. Turning less cold in the west on Tuesday, with bright or sunny spells and wintry showers in the northeast. Drier conditions are likely further south, extending to most parts by Wednesday (3rd), with lighter winds but cold to near normal temperatures. The mainly dry weather with frost and fog is likely to continue for much of the rest of the period, with temperatures mostly below normal. However, a low risk of much colder conditions with wintry showers may develop at the end of the period.

Its chucking it down here at the moment, but its coming in waves and its just thawing out enough before the next wave comes, so its not lieing on the ground.
