Well I object to speedcams of all types since I think they have been shown to be inaccurate enough under the right circumstances to be invalid evidence for convicting drivers.

However if you say your thoughts to the authorities as above, they will doubtless say that is exactly why they are installing Specs etc.!

On another note and suppose if I'd read the highway code book better i'd have known didn't realise till a few months ago that...

A speed limit on the motorways in a white circle is only advisory, thats why when they light up on the M25 near Heathrow and they've the cameras overhead everyone still goes 70mph.

A speed limit on the motorway in a red circle is enforceable and therefore should be kept to.

But... if you cause an accident whilst in an advisory zone due to being above the advised limit (ie. white circle suggesting 50mph and your doing 60mph) your almost certain to be done for dangerous driving if proven.

All the times i've slowed for these cameras thinking it was 50mph as it flashes up on the gantries when I could of kept going at 70mph

A lot of cars do more than the stated 50 mph between j25 and j28 of the M1
and a few weeks i noticed the cameras don't emit any red light at night time.

I still won't risk it though.
