could argue that they were trying to power up to get out of the way, looked like it was def on collision course and def swirved towards it. but as said above, theres so much you dont see and so much this light and that light put on footage you don;t realy know the exact details

Have I changed my opinon..... Honestly.... NO!
They were WAY too close, put themselves in danger.
Maybe the actions of the whaler are questionable, but ask the other question... Why put yourself so close to such danger, apart from being an idiot

I'd guess that sitting back at a "safe" distance is hardly likely to deter the whalers.
It's the close contact that creates the disruption/distraction as the larger ships cannot operate normally, so to have any effect at all, the protesters have to get close, irrespective of whether they are planning sabotage tactics or not.
Personally, I'd like to see the Whalers treated the same way as they treat the whales, and see how they like it.

Some heartless replies here.
Whales are stunning, beautiful creatures. Sure the protesters may have handled it badly but that's hardly the point. They deserve our support. They have more guts than I would have in actually trying to do something about it.

If this is the case then what of mr watson who claims to have intentionally rammed boats and sunk some he even sell sweatshirts listing the boats he claims to have rammed this man should be locked up before he kills his crew. In the last series he threatened to ram the whalers and ended the series by putting a hole in his own ship doing just that.

My Great grandfather told me to never trust the Japs. Looks like he wasn't wrong.
Mind you GGF also told me not to trust the Darkies, Lefties or women.

Regardless of what peoples views are on the anti-whaing brigade, you play chicken as often as they do eventually your going to lose. Especially to a ship that is alot bigger than yours and to a captain whos ancestors were kamikaze's. I've watched the series and they are idiots throughout, as someone said before they throw chemical bombs at them

Look at their press release of the launch of the Ady Gil
Sea Shepherd Unveils the Ady Gil - Sea Shepherd
Game of chicken gone wrong
Captain Paul Watson (Sea Shepherd President and Founder) intends to use the Ady Gil to intercept and physically block the harpoon ships

I support everybody that is against whaling, even by risking their lives. Most whales are endangered species. For those of you who don't know (as it seems), whales still do NOT belong to the species of fish unless evolution has changed in the last 35 years. BTW, I am also against fishing, so there you go.

the whalers are hunting minke whale which according to the ICUN minke whales hold the status `of least concern` perhaps they could divert all that time and resource into a cause that was of more urgency such as the poaching of rhino
#45
Do you think that is acceptable behaviour?

For the record, I dont like the whaling industry one bit, and think it is really quite nasty the way they "hunt"
I respect the protesters for making the effort to be heard, but there is protesting, and putting yourself in danger, which in my books is just plain dumb.

the japs have set themselves quotas for how many whales they are allowed to kill for "research" 965 minkie whales and 50 fin whales, that seems an awful lot to be killing every year .its all down to money at the end of the day the jap whaling fleet consists of 1 spotter ship,3 harpoon ships and the massive factory ship, there are whole communities in japan that are reliant on the income that killing whales bring in theres no way the jap government are going to upset these people so its going to continue.sea shepard would be better off spending money educating and getting the japanese people to accept that eating whale meat is no longer acceptable.

on the series it is made clear that the whales are dead before processing in fact they quote how long after being dispatched by rifle (which is shown in one of the programs) it will be before the carcass begins to spoil

no i dident know that...and no animal should suffer in any way, did you know a fish on a fishing line is not having the time of its life ? but every day millions of people fish around the world, is that wrong or is it ok? because its small and not seen as beautiful? what im saying is where do you draw the line a whale, shark, fish, a lobster
why not fight for more humain killing if they suffer so much ?
i see them as fools because they risk human lives as seen in both vids, will they be happy to kill a human who kills whales ?
the word has gone mad when there are kids starving around the world and living on the streets and idiots like this put there efforts and probably tens of millions of pounds into this most of them will be free loaders who need to fit in somewere into a group
while one kid go's hungry in this world i will never give one penny to an animal charity asmuch as i love them

I think the problem is they are so big, the only way to stop them is to shoot them with explosive harpoons. No way to farm them after all.
I think in a world without consequences I think their methods would be a lot more impactive.
Quite possibly, but you cant deny they have a point. Virtually every other animal which is killed for meat is stunned in some way and then dispatched with in a (relatively) humane way.
Whales are killed without any kind of stunning and with an explosive harpoon embedded in their side. It would be like killing a cow with a rocket propelled grenade when you want a hamburger. Justifiably, there would be quite a lot of popular protest if people started doing that. In fact, I seem to recall there was...

I think thats the crux of their arguement and for the record, I agree with them.

Please don't think I am pro whaling it is just that I think the way that watson is acting borders on lunacy his efforts tend to alienate people and you find that people concentrate on him rather than the root of the problem
