BMW M1 - overpriced or worth it?

Oh and you aren't like a stuck record at all with your claims that tuned Leons are faster than fighter jets are you?
I have driven a GTI and a Leon CR and the GTi is far better to drive - so they chassis in each can't be the same. Either that or Seat use overcooked spaghetti instead of a steering column.

Says the fella who keeps on banging about his bloody diesel bmw hearse, telling everyone how much better his car is, and how much quicker it is than the equivelant petrol version
You have driven a leon cupra r? So you drove the mk1 leon which admittedly isnt all that good when compared to the new leon, but it was still better than the mk4 golf. The mk2 leon cupra R isnt out yet for test drives in the uk ********
what a mug cant even talk about the right car. I drive a MK2 cupras, and on all the long term tests out there it got ravving reviews.

Well like you said you have the audi, the GT3 911 would tempt me more than the turbo I think though.

Pov - you are actually quite thick aren't you? Please show me a good review of the mk2 Cupra.
And Evo review a 260ish bhp Cupra R this month - fast but only 3.5 stars (I think) for the usual reasons. Cr4p steering, boring chassis.
The mk4 Golf, apart from the R32, was sh1te so hardly a useful yardstick.
Carry on though. After all I'm not the only one that laughs at your chavvy hot hatch obsession. Tell us about in gear times again please. In the dry. On a super smooth road ONLY.
Anyway the 135M will be about 1000000000000 times more desirable than a cr4ppy Seat (John Porters piece on "what's the point of Seat" is hilarious this month - happy to scan it...) regardless of price or some specific and pointless acceleration figure.

Revealing the plans for the new 1-series-based model, M division boss Kay Segler said, “I want to set a clear signal that our products are financially accessible.
“With the modular production processes in place at BMW, it is possible to create performance cars that customers can not only dream about owning but also realistically afford.”
What ****ing planet is this bloke on! New Tax Bands, New showroom taxes and the continuing uncertainty with the world finances. "Realistically afford" that'll be 18 year old kissball players FFS!
For £38k it will probably have a CD player and wind up windows

Blablabla. Same old **** coming out your mouth as usual.
Go and drive one, I can post plenty of reviews where the cupra gets a brilliant write up. I did my research before buying, and drove cars and made my own conclusions, maybe you should try that yourself.
And a lamborghini will be 100000000000000 times more desirable than the overweight beemer, but with it, just like the fat beemer of the seat will be a massive price hike, ****

Hmm - always found a Lambo brilliant for hauling kit around. Always found it makes a good family car. Always found them very practical.
WTF would I want a Lambo for?
Do you think I don't read about stuff I buy before I get them? Show me any write up with a single negative word about the 335d apart from the dull old "it's a diesel" line. And I'll show you plenty of write ups telling us how Seat can't make a decent handling car or an interior that doesn't look like a Halfords special.
There are MANY cars in the same price bracket as a Cupra that are much better.
Now please tell me what other well made RWD estate I could have got with almost 300bhp (most are dyno'd over 300bhp stock) and 428lbs/ft that will laugh at any hot hatch if driven hard on real roads?
Oh and overweight? The new Leon Cupra R weighs 1450kgs for a FWD hatch with a four pot 2.0 litre engine and an interior made of cling film and bog roll. Mine is 1650kgs for an ESTATE with a twin turbo 3.0 diesel and is built properly. Methinks the Seat is the one with a weight problem.
In the Evo mk6 GTi vs Focus RS vs Seat Leon R vs Megane 250 test the Leon is LAST by some margin despite being the quickest accelerating car. Speaks volumes.
Now tell us how a revo'd Seat can beat a Eurofighter please please please...

oh Audis tends to break down alot
My business partner daughter has just bought the Audi RS6...and thats been to the audi dealers for repairs more than its been on the road in her 1 year of ownership !!!
the car was bought new by the way (thank god for warranty).
otherwise on these type of cars , its will cost you big time , i mean the RS6 has 7 radiators just to cool the car lol

My old man has an R8 (V8) and not a single thing has gone wrong with it. Not a squeak, rattle, or anything mechanical. If you can afford to buy one, I'd recommend you do. The V10 is the faster car, but the V8 has the better driving dynamics due to not having a huge V10.

For the money, you'd bl00dy well hope so.
At the R8 tracks days I've attanded (3 so far) you get to watch a video of how extreme Audi go when building an R8. Almost everything is Laser measured to make sure it all bolts together perfectly. I'm sure most production lines are pretty accurate too, but the amount of work Audi do when it comes to the R8, is from an owners point of view, very pleasing.
The R8 killed the RS4 afterall. Audi couldn't produce enough engines to satisfy both cars, so stopped producing the RS4.
Audi went all out to take on the 911. They achieved what others couldn't, by producing a genuine 911 rival.
Old man has had an invite to another R8 day. This time in the V10, and also it's a intense course that basically trains you up to getting a racing licence. Obviously I'll be taking his place on this one too.

The R8 does appeal with it's very high build quality - unlike Ferrari, Maser and Lambo who are still makers of flaky cars, the R8 seems as well as, if not better built than the 911.
I have much envy re the trackday course!!

No more than any other car. TBH you get some bad car that just seam to go wrong all the time. I had a Clio 172 that was one of them. Always some little niggle that made me hate the car.

if you are cpmparing the 997turbo to the R8...it really boils down to which car has more driver's appeal, the iconic 997 turbo to the ultra modern R8 with that awesome V10

£38k?! no thanks - especially as it's coupe shape only which look weird IMO. The regular 1-series have actually grown on me, and I reckon they look quite cool in quirky sort of way - M1 in the hatchback shape could be interesting- but thats still a lot of cash.
Surely Audi won't bother releasing the the RS6 in the current shape A3 which is a dinosaur now!

However, since my old man has had his R8, the sheer quality of the thing is second to none. The ride & handling is......perfect. The only thing the V8 version lacks it the 911 Turbo matching grunt. The V10 version solved this, but took some of the purity of the V8 version away.
If I had a choice between a 911 Carrera S/4S or an R8 V8, I'd choose the R8 every time.
911 Turbo (Revised MkII) or a V10 R8? Would be one of the toughest choices I'd have to make. Head would say R8. Heart would say 911. After reading Evo's review of the 911 Turbo v R8 V10 v GT-R, I'd probably have to walk into the Porsche dealer.
Saying that, I'd have to test drive both cars first.
Good luck with whatever you choose BH. You're a luck man to be able to afford either.

Must admit it is a tough choice. I've always been a 911 fan. Always said that if the numbers came up, my first stop would be the Porsche dealer. 911 Turbo in Black.
