Apparently the engine oil was going on the floor cos I missed the filler?
That was the second litre bottle anyway.
It definatly ran out of oil rather quickly as I check it every week.

AHA!
I may have an idea what the common fault may be .....
If you have not raced, modified or tracked the car I would think the Warranty would kick in - did I pick up that you bought it secondhand? Was the Warranty transferred? I assume it's a proper UK car?

Why the F*ck do you still bother with this site. You rarely have anything good/decent to say to anybody and usually just like string things up
Makes you want the infractions/banning options back

Nothing wrong with what I have said - you may not like it - but, to be honest, that tough ..... I'm expressing an opinion as you are.
I believe re-maps damage engines .... you don't - fair enough, both points of view are valid.
Infractions and bannings are the tools of the small minded (unless properly administered by mods. as they are now).

Seriously Sunnysideup. Wind your neck in.
The guy has standard UK car with an engine failure and I am sure is absolutely gutted about it. I certainly would be.
You continue to imply it his fault for having another engine fail, and that he is the common factor.
Subaru trust him with their finest! He has paid 25-30K for a car. It is our trust placed in subaru when paying for these cars. Not the other way around.
He is clearly doing something right in life to be able to afford the car.
Arron, again good luck, and ignore SunnySideUp's life force sucking postings.

Anger:-
1. Someone suggested a re-map may have resulted in the engine not being damaged ... I choose to differ in that opinion.
2. I did ask the question if it was standard, fair enough?
3. I also asked if the warranty was transferred.
4. Mentioned that tracking it and modding it would make the warranty null and void.
What's your issue with those above?

I agree 100% with your second statement.

I feel for him as much as anyone else ....... what has happened has happened, all the hair wrenching won't undo it - but, a little light hearted banter could do wonders for putting it into perspective ..... I'm sure you will agree?

I can find no record of a mass re-call?
Could you link me to the item/bulletin please?
If they ALL had software re-maps what reason is being given for them still blowing up then?
I'm genuinely interested as I fancy a 330S - this has worried me, but I also know that a lot of bollox is spoken on BBS Forums sometimes.

I'm prepared to believe that Subaru got it wrong ....... but, only if it comes from the horses mouth.

Won't allow me to download it ....
It states MY08 STi ... the MY09's are OK then?
Is it all of the STi's - or just the 330S?
Subaru bullet proof reputation looking a bit didgy then? Have they found the natural limit to what can safely be extracted from the 2.5 engine?

my09's are supposed to have had the new software in the ecu and should be fine.
my08 sti's were as dodgy as hell when they first came out, theres a thread somewere on engine failures. not sure about the 330s there has been 2 cases of failure that i know of.
thing is Mines mapped at 380bhp by andy f with just over 20k on the clock never misses a beat which makes me beleive the map is the problem as non of the ones that have failed have got above 15k

Terrifying report then?
I would be interested in the numbers failing versus the numbers sold - not every owner redlines their pride and joy ...... I've had mine for 98,000 miles and it rarely has seen 3000+ Revs. Maybe the redline was hit by accident a couple of times when it was relatively new - and horrified me!
I guess I am living proof that if you treat the car you own properly and considerately, it just doesn't go wrong at all ..... for decades and 1,000's of miles.
Although, in this case, it seems that even that may not have helped?

A blind man on a galloping horse can see that was a joke and, if I know Aaron, he would have taken it that way! Lighten up a little

Do I need to put in the rolling eyes sarcastic emoticon, just in case you didn't pick it up from the text?
I am sure you and I would get on like a house on fire.
If my engine fails, I will be sure to post something about it so you could introduce some light hearted banter to make me feel better and maybe give me some perspective on it.
p.s. My car was given a reflash when it was in for a service, they didn't recall it and I was only told it was done after I asked.
Subaru is running a business. I love your whiter than white view of them.
