sceptical, seen most haunted and the countless videos (although there are fakes like UFO ones) but what defines a ghost? are you meant to see an orb or a full on person?
had some strange encounters over the years

Well, all I would say is that if so many people have seen ghosts, and some are so reliably evident, why is it that there isn't a single verifiable piece of evidence for them?
It should be easy for science to prove their existence, but it simply doesn't happen.
I wish it weren't so, ghosts would be cool, but..........

my neice saw something when she was at my aunties old house a few years back, she was about 3 at the time and wandered to the bottom of the stairs.
she was looking up and saying hello to 'someone' at the top of the stairs, my auntie went over and asked what she was looking at and my neice said :- 'an old man. now he's sitting down and coming down the stairs'
the house was my mum and aunties family house and my grandad used to use a sit on stair lift.
my grandad died over 10 years ago so my neice knew nothing of him, let alone that there was a stair lift used there once.
properly, properly scared my auntie. she said the house had a different feel to it since grandad died and she moved out not long after.
can't explain it at all really, seem to remember reading something that young kids are more 'tuned in' to seeing ghosts apparently?

I wouldnt discount that there are things we dont understand, I have yet to be convinced though. Doesnt mean I dont get a bit wary when I'm out off road biking at night. Its amazing what the imagination can do.

bloody hell, just going downloading a few pics from my phone and i saw this.
i took this before christmas at the crematorium where my grandad and grandmas ashes were laid, not sure if the uploaded pic shows it, but there's a rainbow leading to where their ashes were spread and the base of the tree is quite red? plenty of reasons to explain it but a bit spooky?

The thing is alot of people have had losses in the family etc and sometimes the grief along with the human imagination can be such a powerful combination that you can almost convince youself of anything, especially if it's something you miss/want badly enough. The images of so called ghosts etc are not always a negative experience.

Haunted old pub my mate used to own, lots of stories of people seeing someone playing darts where the old dart board used to be and when walking back from collecting darts he dissapeared. one night we were sat in there before opening up, i was on a bar stool at the bar, his dog started going mental and all of a sudden i shot up like i was pushed off my stool and just froze as i landed not really knowing why or how i just did what i did, just felt like i was pushed. this was about 4-5 years ago.
as a nipper aroud age 8-9 i used to ride my motorbike on a country lane said to be walked by the ghost of a dead milkmaid. sure enough one sunday i was tootling along, as i got to the old railway lines my bike cut out and at the opposite side of the lane in the ashes of what looked to be an old bonfire was a 3 legged milking stool. bike wouldnt start for around 20 secs but when it did i cleared off sharpish
again as a nipper around age 12-13 was staying a mates in the country and we were pratting around outside at dusk. around 150 yards from his house is a very small wooded area. its almost dark and we were both stood facing the wooded area and a guy runnning appeared from the left side of the wood, ran along the road infront of it, off onto a grassy track and dissapeared just before a field. he was dressed like one of the 118 guys without a vest or headband just white shorts, just ran straight, not looking around and went as quick as he appeared, he even looked sort of opache with really light skin. we both saw it too but couldnt see him again after he ran off the road, there was not a chance he carried on running over a ploughed field. iv told that to a lot of friends and will never forget it
and iv posted this before on here but my work is built on an old police court house which was demolished for this place around 7 years ago. me and another person have seen shadows of people in the what is now a server room, instances of lights coming on from movement activation when they are in the corner of the room and nobody is on the floor at all. computers firing up in the middle of the night, have heard very faint footsteps on the floor above where the lights come on by themselves and all sorts of funny noises
i dare say most of the above could be explained apart from the running man but like i say, i keep an open mind

I was once told (I was about 6, then) that in my mum's hometown in India, a cycle rickshow man often went to buy Jalebis from "Barkul" mithai (sweet) shop. Jalebi is an Indian sweet/desert. It looks like a circled up, swollen spaghatti. Very nice to taste, indeed. Anyway, that rickshow man was addicted to "Barkul"'s Jalebis, so he often rode to "Barkul", to fetch some. Apparently, that cycle rickshow man was a ghost. He got found out when the sweet seller suddenly caught the sight of the rickshaw man's feet. Apparently, his feet were other way round. His toes were facing his back
It was in the paper that the sweet seller suffered heart attack after this discovery.
Since then, for a good few years, I checked all the cycle rickshaw men's feet that I came across, just to make sure that they were not some bhoots(ghosts). Not sure how true this tale is, but it did affect me that time.
I am so pleased that there are no rickshaw taxis in the UK, thank God!

I seam to be one of these people who has strange things happen quite a bit, IIRC i have posted before on SN about the goings on at work, including the time we walked outside and found one of the prewash brushes standing up on the prewash pad by itself, its hard to balance the thing doing it manually by hand, so no idea how that happened. We also had the cups start rocking on the cup holder when none of us had been anywhere near it
My kitchen kettle switches itself on and off by itself, now this would not be such a biggy, if it was just the 1 kettle, but after watching the TV and hearing what sounded like the kettle switching on and off far to many times, i replaced the kettle for a different brand, still we heard what sounded like a kettle switching on and off while going about our business, we put this down to the kitchen extractor fan blowing in the wind.
That was until the bloody thing switched itself on and then off while the missus was in the kitchen, and i was just in the dining room, her face =
Asked her if it was the kettle, she said yes, the orange light came on and the switched moved, **** me![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
The element was hot.....
Now we switch the kettle off at the plug as soon as we have finished with it, this has had no effect, it still switches on and off, should try unplugging it i suppose but i cant see it making any difference, as this is 2 different kettles that have done it now.
I would say it does its thing probably about once per night.
The only thing i can think of is maybe we have some kind of messed up magnetism going on i the kitchen?
I would say i am open minded, although i suspect we dont even understand how most of the universe even works so it could be anything, it sure puts the ****s up the missus, so i tell her that a you lad fell from the top window a few years back

When I was a young lad my Grandfather died in the house.
A week later my parents had to go out and I was in bed and alone in the house.
I saw the door handle of my bedroom door turn and the door opened and then shut again. There was no one by the door.
I got out of bed and checked the whole house, it was definitely empty and the doors were locked.
Never was able to explain that one!
