phill please do not tell em you are still interested in this?
are you mad, you want a to buy a sport with an sti engine no changes to the logbook, possibility of high millage, no service history, no proof of work carried out, no alarm and you are still asking questions about it, and same to you timmy.
walk away and keep looking for something else

I'm not sure it is a Sport with an STI engine is it?
Same to me? I was the one who posted it had no receipts for ANY of the work or parts! As I said I'll quite happily leave this one to someone else. You can almost gurantee you'd be spending the same you paid for the car in a not very long time on this.

I would say its a V2 STi but DVLA or importers have made a mistake.
Sport Specials were only black and cashmere yellow - we are considering a yellow one for the Mrs.
If its for your sister I wouldn't even consider contacting the owner. It will be money pit.
I would look at a sport special like we are. It won't cost as much as a turbo to keep and less likely to give you a nasty bill down the line.

its an import and therefore its not unresonable for it to not have an alarm fitted. your looking at about 200 for a toad cat one.
the instrument panel is supossed to be like that.
it looks like a proper sti, as above it was probably regsitered at dvla as a sport. this is not unusual either. very common in fact. my 93 wrx is a 2.0R on the log book. dvla do not have the correct model descriptions you see. most are normally GL on the log book.
If you pay 2k for a wrx or sti expect to pay around 500 putting it right. at that price these cars always come with niggles and an imcomplete service history. budget for a full service too.
i would not trust the mileage either. sometimes it will have been rolled back by one owner (legitimatly) but then the next owner says its never been rolled back and that some of the miles are kilometers (if you know what i mean). this happened to my last one cos dvla wrote to me to verify the milegage. someone had clocked it.

when people put "sold as seen no warranty" that puts me off! its not unreasonable for them to do that but its like they are really making a point of it cos they know summots up. any private sale is sold as seen.

I think I'm going to leave it, but I thought it was defiantly worth asking the questions, thanks for your input everyone
