Have you thought of converting your Scoob to an ice cream van? You could then just use ice cream instead of snow & could do so all year round.

Hell-a-lot cheaper than a remap SSU.

That's the beauty of this method, see? The max power delivery has been moved to 1250 RPM - not sure how this has happened, but I measured the number of times the wheels span in the snow and estimated, according to my trusty sliderule, that it is putting out 535BHP @ 1250RPM!!

So, no need to go over 3000RPM or anywhere near the rev limiter

I get the feeling that some are not taking this seriously ..... muppets shouldn't get it - it will be a waste of a fantastic scientific discovery - it will vanish without trace!!

When the wife comes in and notices all the freezer food in the garage I may be in a spot of bother ...... but, it's worth it - I reckon I have enough for 35 journeys ... will keep them for the summer when they will come into their own.

OR I may sell them to the Esso Garage along the road - see if they take off?

I'm a Design Engineer by trade and have a Holiday Fish Feeder Device - it drops out a measured amount of fish food ...... I'm changing it so that it can dispense an amount of snow onto the IC.

This could be the start of my mega idea which will make me a millionaire!!

I shall start the patent application tomorrow.

Just been to town and back - only a third of the iced snow in the scoop has melted ... that's over 25 miles - pretty good value I'd say, as all that time the melting ice was spraying my IC!

It will ice up again tonight and I have filled the gaps in the scoop aperature with fresh snow. Fantastic free upgrade ... these iced blocks could be sold from garages in the summer, think of the market? It would have to be a generic block to make the business plan work - but thats no great hardship.

you will need to design some sort of device to measure usage and temps etc

a block-link maybe

but you seem to have this modding malarky sussed - cool

Yes, indeed ... didn't think of that - every mod needs a random light generator monitor.

Red lights if the snow has melted away, Amber if it's beyond 50% gone ... and Green if all is well. Of course, this will be utterly pointless (as usual) - but, will impress the gullible and the teens down at McDonalds Car Park on a Friday night

I could call it something like, "PolarLink RallyX All Terrain Temperature Monitor" - or PRATT Montor, for short.

But if it works reducing charge temps you will need a remap to make the most of it and you dont agree/believe in them so its a useless product

the last couple of nights i have been out on a big ind est playing in the car on the snow and i noticed that playing for a while doing doughnuts and spins obviously no air is passing through the intercooler and i have an air temp gauge meassuring the temps that go into the throttle body i had them go up to around 40c so thought as the intercooler is getting quite warm lets cover it in snow as theres no air going through it anyway it wouldnt matter and would also be cooler covered in snow and as it melts with the heat hey presto the temps came down to just under 19c result more power

How about stretching tights over your tyres to stop them getting clogged up with snow? i know, brilliant idea.

My map responds as standard to the temperature range we will ever see in this country - no remap needed -

Like I said, FREE UPGRADE!! It really does work, I'm staggered by the increased power ........

You're quite right - blocking the airflow through the IC is of no concern as long as the charge temps. are lowered ..... the melting snow does that effectively - good to see some hard evidence for what I have been experiencing ......

When the BugEye came out in late 2000, many owners stretched tights over their faces, so that no-one would recognise them!!

-20 is a standard type of temperature for a worldwide product ..... in fact the car would operate quite well in temps. far lower than -20 .....

Some people on here think you need a re-map if you use a different pump at your regular garage ....

Didn't say it was needed just will it make any difference below a certain charge temp. I bet the std map doesn't adjust down to that temp to give any performance gain
Doing doughnuts has the only benefit from what I can see
You been turning up the car parks on the rev limiter

Do Subaru offer 10 year warranties now?

I shall just flush it - re-maps have a 10 minute warranty - just long enough for the mapper to get to the bank
