Up my way a deal is a deal. you tell someone you will sell them something for £50 then you sell it for £50, and if someone comes along 30 minutes later and offers £150, it would be sold to the guy i done the deal with first for £50. Im maybe too honest in this day and age, but i treat people the way i would like to be treated...... HONESTLY....... I have seen a lot of stuff on this site that i would have loved to have bought for my scoob, but i like to deal face to face, and thats why ive probably missed a lot of good deals on here, and end up buying them new. Just my 2 bobs worth....

Scoobymad555
Thanks for that. I assumed that would be the case.

I can just see people for example obtaining a part exchange valuation on a car then giving it a run on E Bay to try and improve the figure and then when it fails to reach the part ex price backing out on the sale.

I appreciate what you say but i assume if this happened you would be on your own pursuing a civil action against the seller.
I guess E Bay would not be too helpful.

Cheers.

just shows what todays society is like..... a crock of ****.

If you put something on ebay, without a reserve etc, then you should be prepared to take whatever it sells for.

Its up to you to describe it etc to get best possible coverage/bids.

I myself have sold a fair few bits on ebay, and if there is something i want XXX for, then i put that as my starting bid. Rather than risking getting less than i would want for something. If it doesnt sell, then its an indication to me i am asking to much.

To sell something then pull out becuase you got offered more.... well then your a C-Unit, that evidently cast grasp the concept of an Auction site!!!

Hi, first of all Mr Mudflaps has had confirmation from Ebay direct of a technical problem incurred during the auction and have spoken to him direct to confirm. I have refunded the sale price amount direct via PayPal. The facts: EBay’s technical problem ment that 15 bidders were unable to bid on MY item thus the item sold for far less than it would have. 15 YES 15 bidders came forward and complained that this was unfair as they wanted to pay far more than the small amount that Mr Mudflaps was prepared to pay. I approached Ebay direct and they advised me to cancel the transaction and communicate with the buyer and explain the problem. Prior to this the funds were moved to my bank account as there is so much fraud on the site from people from non UK addresses sending couriers to collect then the funds bounce. Because the funds had been transferred and the engine on a pallet Ebay advised me to cancel the transaction and they are 100% behind my situation as I would have lost a large amount of money if I completed the deal. Now, chaps if you had a newly built 07 2.5 STi fully forged engine for sale would you sell for £995 (£900 after fee's) I think not!!! And the nice chap who has bought and paid £2500 for the same engine is over the moon. Finally I have 170 very happy customers who have bought from me on Ebay and also on this site and I’m no scammer as someone has put it. As to my user ID been changed Ebay also advised me to do this as Mr ********* has continued to send abusive email cause he ain't getting the engine not now not ever. Ebay have refunded my fees incurred as a good will gesture because of their tech problem. Had this been a live auction room and the auctioneer passed out prior to the end of the sale would this have been ok to you all??
The buyer was informed 2 days before to cancel the courier as I was not going to release the engine at any cost because of the situation, if he hasn't cancelled them that’s his problem not mine. Now on a happier note I have an extra £1500 cash in my pocket :-) Happy days. Lots of love to all the keyboard warriors on this site

Bolton electrical you might make the original buyer happier by copying some or all of those 15 emails with people saying they had problems bidding. It's very easy:

If you press prt sc button on your keyboard (usually in the top right) and open paint and press paste. Save the file. Upload to photobucket or email them to the original buyer, that way he could see you've been mostly genuine.

well despite your faithful buyers mate your name has been slated and in my eyes rightly so.... You entered into a contract when you accepted the money plain and simple. It doesnt matter whether or not there were 15 bids not registered. Who's to say that the 15 bids would have even got it to £1100?? Good for you for supposedly getting £2500 but your still in the wrong for doing it.

Please note this is just my opinion which im entitled too and isnt intented to influence other peoples responses.

Ok lets clear a few things up Sam

1) I have had absolutely no contact from ebay to back up anything of what you had said.
2) Im not a non UK bidder, I am from Northern Ireland which is part of the UK.
3) I paid for a courier and he arrived and you turned him away, you informed me of your choice not to sell the engine in the morning and I rang the courier, however they had already been to your place.
4) My funds could not "bounce". It was paid for through paypal and the funds had cleared, evident from the fact that you were able to withdraw.

It is quite obvious from your communications on eBay, which I can back up, that you made arrangements with me for payment and collection. You then obviously got an offer from somebody outside of eBay and so filled me with some BS story about an eBay technical fault, despite me and other bidders being able to bid and absolutely no proof supplied.

You may have got £1500 more for your engine, I think you are lying about this as well, but I hope that that money does you no good and you get everything deserving of such dishonest and dishonourable actions. Now everybody on scoobynet knows how much of a scammer you are.

Any chance of you refunding my courier costs out of the extra £1500 you got?

You actually didn't refund him his courier costs?

**** me you really are a tit.

Maybe you were too busy pressing the Prt Sc button to show him your proof from all those 15 emails you got saying people couldn't bid.

Why don't you call Ebay as they are waiting for your call to verify the technical error. I'd just like to add also that a scammer doesn't pay the money back or send the items. You have been refunded and have continued to try and blacken my good name. You have now left me no option but to seek legal advice as to your remarks against me. You were told in several emails to cancel the courier two days prior (who didn't collect anything) and no proof from you of any expense incurred. You have took it upon yourself to make this now a public matter and in doing so have still not made the facts clear to your new friends. I'm sure if you had been in my position you also would have taken the advice from Ebay to cancel the transaction. I shall and will not lower myself to the level of some on this site and urge you to gather your facts first prior to making comments on issues you know very little about. Ebay customer help line 0800 358 3229 its free so you can chat for as long as you want.

You said eBay had provided me with the info which they hadnt. You have also provided no proof of the messages you said you recieved to me. According to other posters on here you never had a "good name" anyway and everything that I have said is true and so you can seek any advice you want. You did not tell me to cancel the courier until the day the courier arrived and I will now print screen my email confirmation of payment from the courier so that you can see my costs.

I dont believe ebay have had a fault, I have never heard of this before and we have been members of ebay for years. The mudflaps account may be new but I am not new to ebay. It is up to you to provide me with the proof of what you are saying Sam.
