Prefer Subaru's myself.... but if a nice VI Extreme came up for a good price i'd be off to the dark side!!! (Or a VII RS for that matter)
There is a Silver VI Extreme for sale on the MLR at the moment

But which Evo was missing? not to mention some high specced cars running privatly and not as part of the MLR team.

Seen that. Number 4 isn't it?

A guy i work with used to have one. Stunning car, very quick, and amazing handling.

Norris was missing wasn't he? Unlike his car to have problems

I think the MLR/CPR issues prevented MLR having an even stronger team.
Still won it though i guess

Shaun once you get to our power level you have to wedge as much into each car to get a safe power.

Evo's are easier to tune £ for £, so 500+ is more achievable / obtainable for a greater number of people so there is a lot more of them.

More higher powered cars = more for sale - simples.

Kezzo80,
Are they really THAT much cheaper though, by the time you buy a proper gearbox and diffs that the Subaru has already got. Especially if you want to launch it. For 500bhp build I bet there is not much in it, if you do everything properly.

Steve,
I don't mind spending the cash on another car.... but ending up with a car that is virtually the same seems a bit pointless after spending another wedge.

I'm sure at higher power the evo8 and above spits its diff out ?? so it needs one from an older car ? or is it just due to AYC ?

The RS rear diff is the stronger one.

They used to go for £2500 second hand, not sure if that's still the case or not.

I think they must be cheaper as there would be more high power Scoobs out there.

When I get to 500 on my VIII I'll come back and tell you how much it cost me!

The newer rear diffs are said to be stronger, however the newer 6 speed gear boxes are weaker

So you want an VI gear box and IX Rear Diff, better still use RS diffs (No AYC)

I guess the engine he already has in the Bogey hasn't done many miles over the last 2 years, so he might aswell keep it

(Only kidding Simon)

We will be driving around in hoover cars by then. You can't say a figure on how much it costs you as compared with me and shaun as we have had our cars for years and you can get an evo 8 for £10k now so if you say spend £5k to get it to that power on the cheap its totally different as our cars cost much more than that standard years ago

Whats the point in trying to do it on the cheap? Any mods on any car done on the cheap will last all of ten minutes in the real world.

Mine has had over £30k worth of mods and labour on it, on top of the car price. Is that cheap enough?

Could I have got an EVO that is more reliable, the same power and quicker, taken from a base car cheaper?

Ahh! I can see how my "I'll tell you how much it cost me when I reach 500" post would seem (esp. coming from an evo owner), so there was no cleverness implied Was discussing the reasons why the OP asked why ther was more high powered evos for sale.

Got to high 400's with just a walbro on mine though but there comes a point where it isnt worth risking an engine for the sake of 'wondering' why it can't do it. Just put a proper fuel pump on if you are after that power
got 515bhp on a walbro with no problems, though did swap for a bosch 10 bar for a bit more, was running 520ftlbs on an ap organic, people said you cant do that either, might name my car "the cant car"
