They tested his exhaust at idle and then he had to sit it at 3000rpm and they then took the rerading and thats what made it fail the test. they repeat this step 3 times so they get an average.

They would say that because they probably want to sell you one but seriously you shouldn't need a 3" to achieve 300 bhp.

Yes I want to uprate the headers (manifold) at some point. I was thinking of of going for the equal length headers. Dunx's on here sounds awesome!!! that would be me very please . Are yours EL?

for info regarding power levels and 2.5 inch exhausts.. my daily drive made 416bhp on a 2.5inch exhaust.. changed to 3inch exhaust and it made 451bhp.. so I wouldn't worry until 400bhp

Cheers Simon ,

Thanks for the info, may look into a 2.5" system then. My 3" is fine apart from i can not source a 3" backbox thats quieter than mine!!!!!!

Why not have a 2.5" back box and get one of those reducing flanges

The bung it comes with is toooo quiet, and having read on here about the use of them, It seems that it can cause issues with the car, especially if mapped and running over 300 .

My current system is boomy, so I was looking for a slightly quieter exhaust, any suggestions. The exhaust is from Unit 8 Uk Performance, unsure of make.

As for the adapter, yes good point I'll have a look
But i assume this would push the exhasut further back as in therory you are adding more pipe work to the system that already offers mounting in the correct places
