I'm not a tech but i originally owned a my00 classic and loved it. I did as much as i could including turbo back exhaust, blitz airfilter, hks dump valve and don't laugh but a bleed valve boosting at 0.9 bar. It was my dream car, until my mate bought an EVO 4 and beat me in a straight line.
I now have a sti version 4. It is pretty standard at mo but it's awesome in comparrison. YOu usually remember cars being faster than they actually were. Not in this case, my old uk version is no comparrison what so ever. Import every time. Find it a lot easier to get parts for my import than i did for the uk.

If you werent coming out with cocky posts like this maybe you wouldnt get spoke to like a muppet:
I don't give a flying one what you do for a living, after all its the job you chose. Deal with it.
What winds me up is people like you who start trying to tell someone with nearly 20k posts who has been on here 7 years that they are talking sh*t. You said yourself you have owned your car 4 months. You might be the best mechanic in the country for all I know but you are still wrong, read the link. Like I said, pissing in the wind. Call me a muppet, say your going to turn up on my doorstep hard man
, fill your boots I've done on this thread.
sorry didnt realise was talking to a tuner with 30 years of knowledge.....
esl were looking into the 97/98 ecu but nothing has come of it.no-one has been able to re-map this ecu thats why you have to fit apexi/simtek etc...
oh and my car was standard(now running over 250 with sensible mods) when i got it and have done all the work myself seeing as i have been a qualified mechanic for nearly 20 years and have just transfered from the rifles to the rlc as a vm for the british army(thats vehicle mechanic to civvies.what do you do by the way???

well considering i was right and you cant re-map a 97/98 uk ecu think you should wind your neck in...have found out from jolly green monster that you can get a daughter board for this ecu but better off with apexi/simtek etc... so but that isnt re-mapping the original ecu is it????
just because you have 20k posts onhere only means you sit at a computer all day.funny you still havnt said what you do for a living?
this is what grips my **** on these forums when some one seeks advice or quotes what they have been told certain ***** always want to be muppets and give a gobfull about how wrong they are and how right they are.

It depends on your priorities.
Both have their benefits and negatives. Personally if I was going to choose an import then I'd have STI everytime, far better than the UK car and the WRX. If I was going to choose piece of mind then I'd choose UK, but I wouldn't. Impreza ownership isn't about piece of mind.
WRX STI imho

As long as we're all Impreza fans does it matter which version we go for as long as the vehicle meets our individual needs?. I love my V2 555 STI, but there's also a lot of uk spec cars I like aswell.
I thought i'd got away from all the car snobbery when I left the BMW/Alpina forums. Lets get back to basics, enjoying a cracking vehicle amongst like minded owners and fans![Thumb](images/smilies/thumb.gif)
