If you have no Insurance and haven't SORN'd ... then you ARE guilty!

If you have done either then you will not be bothered.

Why the hell should I HAVE to do all of that? If my car is not being used it should just be able to sit on my drive without insurance or SORN. If it is being used without either then (a) catch me using the car (b) prove me guilty in a Court of Law.

Mark my words there will be a whole series of sh*t unleashed un to the motorist in the next 0-10yrs ... it's the usual slow errosion of civil liberties that this Govt favours.

Don't get me wrong .... I have 4 cars to keep track of - one has/is SORN'd sometimes - and the thought that if I 'forget' they can come after me and fine me .... but, I have seen that they are pretty understanding if you state that it was an oversight.

What this Insurance thing will do is enable the authorities to compile a list of non SORN'd cars which should be Insured, but are not ...... then Mr Bobby can visit the registered address and view the vehicle. If it is owned by an un-insured scumbag, it will be towed away ... and good thing too!!

Unfortunately, we have to suffer some inconvenience to catch the guilty. Whether it's worth it is a matter of personal opinion.

Maybe the possible Tory government will not implement it?

I get frustrated by the constant battering of "new stuff" that gets implemented regardless of public opinion yet mostly without our knowledge & there's nowt I can do about it The prospect of a new Govt doesn't fill me with hope either

not heard of this new law, but if a car is on a public road, (parked, driving whatever!) it has to be taxed, MOT'd and insured by law.

If it's not on a public road and isn't being used on a road, there's no legal requirement for Road Tax, MOT or Insurance. (track cars etc.)

Simples!

If this new law gives plod the power pop round to the uninsured ******* house and take their car because they're not insured, then great - one less of the little b*stards to crash into us later and put us out of pocket when we drive legally.... (at the moment, plod need to catch the little **** actually driving said car before they can do anything about it)
