RWD selected, obviously.
That's what i mean the V6 1 standard is 6.6 so clearly don't work for this type of car, like you say gears and stuff. Just thought i could get a ruff idea of the 0-60 on a mapped 1

This is what it says for my car....

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 440
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1270
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 352.02
0 - 60 (Secs) : 3.22
0 - 100 (Secs) : 8.05
60 - 100 (Secs) : 4.83
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 11.78
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 120.96
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 11.38
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 125.16

I know this is only supposed to be an estimate but I think its VERY optamistic!

I agree - the figures should be taken not literally.

Just gives you a - very liberal! - idea of what to expect. I reckon if you add 0.5s to the 0-60 time it throws up, then that's prob a good 'correction' factor, and go by that instead... Then if the time ends up less in practice, then bonus!

Don't forget, it's probably taking into account the way manufacturers/journalists figure their cars i.e. by dialing in optimum revs and literally just side-stepping the clutch, so as to dump all the torque into the transmission at that instance. Get it right and the driven wheels should produce minimal wheelspin and off you rocket.

Obviously, the above launch technique, if you have one ounce of mech sympth and are large invoice-fearing!, is something most of us would never, ever do!

Dccd locked helps a lot if you get the launch right.......i was way quicker than alot of cars running far more horsepower at Trax 0-60 dash last year...

A guy who had a 500hp uk classic couldnt understand how i managed a 3.59 with only 370bhp....

It was the 20psi R888, dccd locked and twinplate clutch that gave me the advantage...even though i had 3 gear changes...

On second atempt i missed 2nd gear (box knackered) and still managed 4.09..

I've just looked back and no one seems to come up with a turbo to suit. I guess it really doesn't come down to turbo then.
But would like to know what would make a fast road car, with a good acceleration.

why would you all care what your car does a 0-60 time in. is this just for the pub or bragging rights?

Im going for a VF37 twin scroll in my classic, which Im hoping will give a good mix of power and torque- Im hoping for 330/330 or so at 1.3bar as its a WRX.

Previous owner had 360- 370 at 1.6 bar.

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 600
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1200
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 508.03
0 - 60 (Secs) : 2.74
0 - 100 (Secs) : 6.41
60 - 100 (Secs) : 3.67
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 11.14
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 131.83
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 10.74
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 136.47

my car has done 11.2 @ 135 at elvington. pretty close to the 1/4 mile time and terminal above. look at the 0-60 time. there is no way on gods green earth i am ever going to get near that figure. 2.74 seconds. you are having a laugh. optimistic. just plain wrong imho.

No no, not going for bragging etc, i want a bloody quick car, just the 0-60 was about the acceleration, i think maybe I worded it wrong.

I should have said quick road car with very little lag and good power through the rev range.

You need an accurate weight for your car and remember the weight changes depending on the fuel load. Your local authoirty will have a list of public weigh bridges and that is the best way to get an accurate weight for your vehicle.

harveys right - each, seemingly, identical car can vary.

Plus also they can vary quite alarmingly from the manufacturer's quoted figure - whether less... or more!

I do wonder if the rolling road results were a touch conservative.......and everyones runs were low on the day.

I was expecting closer to 400.....

Now having the extra weight of a six speed but soon to be running on 100% E85 with tubular headers and mapping...i wonder if i can better it this year ??

A robust, reliable turbo with good spool and a reasonable power spread would be a TD05 18G. A good turbo for 1/4 mile and fast road if you want to be in the 360 bhp bracket.

A VF34/35 or 18g equipped car will be faster over the 0-60 as it has a better spread of power further up the revs.
The TD04 hybrid (Which I love on a daily driver) is better at 50-70 in 5th for instance, better low down response making it better in gear than through the gears.
The problem with using these calculators is they assume you have perfect traction, change gear instantly and have no turbo lag on shifts, even then they make no adjustment for torque, for example the same turbo on a 2.5 may produce 25%more torque so the 2.5 would be quicker (for the same power)
Even on a circa 300bhp car the tyres are pretty much the limiting factor on the road regards 0-60.
The more power you have, the more difficult a good 0-60 time becomes !
