£40 for a Cambelt? I thought they were much more than that!?

As an aside, and I'm guessing, but I think my car cost £21,660? 10 years ago ..... I would hesitate to pay that NOW for a new car!!

Thats exactly the way mine will go. Been running it from new for 3.5 years so far, another 18 months and then I think I will garage it and use it weekends etc and get some german runabout. Dont think i'll ever sell it TBH.

Andy, you just beat me in terms of ownership but mine is older, mine was registered in June 1993 and I've owned it since November 1997, 134,000+ miles on the clock but it's been off the road for the last year.

I remember those days of 12 month waiting lists and depreciation was unheard of in Impreza Turbos!!!

Look how things have changed - new Impreza for £17,999 - delivered tomorrow - worth £7,999 in 12 months down the line!

August '97 Catalunya No. 141 for £21,600 sold back to the dealer in Dec. 2001 for 65% of the original cost.... at over four years old.
1st March 02, Prodrive bug-eye collected, and mod'd and never likely to go, unless vandalised by one of the less talented on the road around me.....

I remember those days well. Bought my first Impreza in 1996 (only a 6 week wait as well), cost just over £18K. Sold it in early 1999 (while my STI5 was on the boat from Japan) with nearly 50K on the clock and a couple of months warranty left, for ... £14.5K. Cheapest car per mile I've ever owned, even with the fuel consumption.

The guy who bought it was on the waiting list for a new UK model, he drove it for the 9 months or so he was waiting and traded it in against the new one.

Managed to get one of the last unregistered classics in 2001 for £19,750.
After almost 9 years of ownership she's got 47k on the clock and she still gives me a ever time.

Choose my 1995 WRX from a Jap auction site Christmas 2003, had to wait until May 2004 before I could take delivery of it (did have a hoon around Southampton docks in April though!!) Still got it now with 115,000 miles on the clock and its been through many stages of mods but settled on 303bhp / 290 ft/lbs about a year ago. Gearbox is getting a bit tired and notchy but nothing a six speed conversion wouldn't sort out

Wink

Got my greenwagon brand new in June 2000 and has 56 k
on the clock now always been my fun & weekend car and
lives in it's nice warm garage
got my 09 wrxd last June and use that as my everyday car
the classic will stop with me forever probably worth less then 3 k
now so not worth selling my only worry would be if the engine went
pop and would it be worth spending 2 k on it but probably would
I spend more time cleaning it then driving it now
