Am I missing something then? Where is the second CAT? What is the point in buying an aftermarket Up-pipe which all the tuners sell etc. Some claim to have sports CATs ie 100 cell and others completely de-catted? Example - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Subaru-Impreza...d#ht_573wt_941

Well it does say 01-06 WRX as well so that would be true for it to be a decat with what JGM said.
Good to know for sure my GB270 wont have an up-pipe CAT.

On the subject of CAT's which CAT would you recommend replacing with a sports CAT if you want to retain the ability to pass an emissions test (assuming the other will be decatted) or does it not really matter?
Would a single 100 cell sports CAT in the system be boarding on passing/failing the emissions test? (ie you'd have a decat in place of the main(?) CAT)
Am i right in saying you can get a longer downpipe which has the a sports CAT built in and the main CAT removed ie 2nd CAT straight through?
Would removing any of the CAT's require a remap even if you have PPP?
Does the centre section silencer make a massive difference to how noisy your system is?

(from my point of view i'm talking from a Hawkeye 2.5 WRX with PPP)

Sorry for all the questions, i'll get my own thread if its seen as hijacking!

yep no uppipe cat in gb270

100cel sports cat is border line from the cars I have seen.. get the cat nice and hot and it usually passes, yes they do the longer downpipe with 2nd cat decat..

the centre section does make a reasonable difference to noise yes.

it would need a remap is you changed cats yes.. maybe okay if you retained the catted downpipe standard.

Up-pipe = Manifold to Turbo
Down-pipe = Turbo to centre section

As Simon says, you may be confusing which is which mate, you will have a cat in your down-pipe but not in the up-pipe.

JGM cheers.

So i'd be ok on the standard PPP map with a 2nd decat, centre section and backbox but still having the standard downpipe with its standard intergrated CAT?
tbh i wouldnt want it loud (just a bit more vocal than the stock PPP setup) so sounds like a silencer in the centre section would be the way to go.
