Dingdongler, I sincerely hope you are not including me in your generalisation of peoples opinions !!!!
impreza_sports_nutter's post was excellent in enlightening me on his religion. It was good to read and learn, but it still has not changed my opinion of daggers/knives, blunt or not. School is not the place for them, end of
I doubt God would be too upset to not having them in place for a few hours a day

No, not aimed at you Lee. My point is not that they MUST be allowed to carry a knife, but that nobody has bothered to even look into the detail before the shouting starts.
Suddenly its about those immigrants demanding things again, not respecting the law of the land, wanting special rights. How they always get what they want if they shout loud enough, blah blah.
Nobody has bothered to find out a single fact about the sikhs, except a few have come on line to give some explanation. Nobody has bothered to find out if on the whole most sikhs even are bothered by this (I suspect not). But then this might expose it for the non story it is and not further the agenda
Are there hoardes of sikhs marching up and down the country demanding this right? I don't see any. They have been here for over 50 years, on the whole I don't think we've heard a peep out of them to be honest.
Nobody has bothered to find out what the track record of sikhs is in general when it comes to respecting the law of the land, defending the law of the land and laying down their life for queen and country.
Nobody has bothered to find out what this so called 'dagger' actually is. If it is just a symbol, ie a blunted tool that is actually usually sealed into its sheath (as I'm led to believe is its form in western countries) then maybe its something that could be given consideration. I'm not saying it should be allowed, just saying it should be given consideration.
But why bother to even think about these things when you can join the Scooby massive led on by mods like Paul Habgood and shout that 'the immigrants are at it again..........'
Never let the facts get in the way of a good story as they say

Sikh's have served this country with honour and distinction for many years. The few that i know personally are decent, honest, hard working people and do contribute. They are honourable people on the whole and imho and experience.
This is not really about Sikhs (for me anyway) this is about changing laws that do not need changing and are there for good reason. No knives in schools!
Paul Habgood a mod, since when? looks like you need to get YOUR facts right before gobbing off eh! never let the fact get in the way of a good rant
As a parent i find it abborant that children should carry knives in schools, ceremonial or not. I left school in 1981, we where not allowed knives then either.
It is very simple and for those with any common sense do not let kids take knives to school.
If you are so smart then tell me why it is a good idea, what good can come of taking knives to school?
Please 'enlighten' me instead of insulting and generalising about me...

1) I thought you used to have 'Mod' in your signature.
2) I can't be bothered to explain the same things to you again and again, but I never said kids should take knives to school. You've proven yourself to be exactly the kind of reactionary I accused you of.

Read what I wrote you **** - I didn't state at all that Sikh's were Muslims
And can you justify that at all, or is it just words?
However, why can't people accept that we have rules/laws and these laws cannot be broken because of something in your particular religion in another country.
Noting ANOTHER COUNTRY where you in this particular example were born under British citizenship
United Kingdom - United Kingdom rules
You've surprised me with the "IS THEIR COUNTRY"

Whilst i do not agree with all the laws and law makers (yet m anage to abide by them) always this makes perfect sense and i just cannot fathom why anybody would think it right to let kids to schools with knives - for any reason whatsoever.

No it hasn't.
I made comments yes - but they are meant to be in the context of people playing on religion and or racial "rights"
People are fed up with this now - most just don't want to admit it.
You see, straight away you're lying down and just accepting it.
Our laws say you cannot carry a dangerous weapon
Why can't these people just accept that?
For example in an islamic country what would happen if I was walking around in public drinking alcohol - I'd be given lashes most likely (I used to work with a guy from Saudia Arabia)
As above - my comments are not directly aimed at muslim.
It was more so religious based
i.e. Its my religion to do this or that
I'm just stating
We'll its either against our laws or causes offence to us, so **** off elsewhere

The whole point of what we said was that he was not carrying a dangerous weapon, purely satisfying his traditions. Will your anti religious bias accept that?

In your 'not so humble i am always right 'cause i say so' opinion eh Martin.
You belittle pretty much everyone who dares to disagree with you and you view yet you get all upset when people then come back at you or insult you (as in so many other threads on SN), it takes a real man to give it and then take it on the chin when it comes back.
Martin - Question - Do you think anyone should be allowed to carry a knife in school and why?
It appears that in the UK the strict laws governing this can be broken on the grounds of religion.
This is not right.
No knives in school - it is very simple, no child carries a knife to school, ceremonial or not.
If people/immigrants/second/third/fourth generations of people coming here for a better life cannot accept this then they need to change to fit in or leave. This is not **** off you immigrant scum, this is simply how is must be.
People coming here and not fitting in, not accepting our rules, our laws our ways (the good stuff) then we have a problem, remember 7/7 home grown bombers and the murderers of innocent men women and children.
I have some news for you, 'This is their country' - wrong Martin, wrong!
pathtic statements like that from the wholley minded and cowardly, accepting those who come here to do not want to fit in, accept the laws and culture are the reasons we have a lot of the problems we have now with the likes of the BNP, Choudry, racisim on both sides and possibly worsening/bigger divides and friction.
Thank you NL and the likes of Martin, your 'thinking'(for want of a more approriate word) is why we are getting in the mess we are in.
I have no problem with those who come here and want to 'join in' be part of the community, this country and contribute in a positive way - as long as we have the room, resources and jobs to sustain those already here and those who wish to come.
Blimey - more than a ''**** off you darkies' from a DM reading, right wing, obviously wrong, racist dimwit!

Pressumably you agree with this, given your response to me?
And no I don't think children should be allowed to take knives into schools under any circumstances

We need to clamp down on this absurd nonsense via judicial means and show that we mean business and won't be pressurised by the "racial" card.

I you had read what J4CKO and I said about allowing him to wear some kind of imitation dagger which was made in such a way that it could not be used as a dagger then you might not have attacked J4CKO as you did.
The whole point of what we said was that he was not carrying a dangerous weapon, purely satisfying his traditions. Will your anti religious bias accept that?

My point is people playing the race/religious card to get something
Britain then back down, hold the hands up and go "OK"
Thats what pisses myself and most other people off.
Imitation dagger - god save me.
What would happen if I dandered down the road with an imitation shotgun
Against the law - full stop.

As for the 'path of the thread', well hopefully a reasonable one without all the hyperbole of earlier posts.

Anyway.......
This is the UK, integrate and abide by the law of the land or **** off somewhere else, simple as.
But don't try to change, bend or flaunt our laws under the guise of your own religeous beliefs as that makes you unwelcome here.

I hope you are not preaching seditious beliefs!

Yes, our democratically appointed government passed a law making it illegal for kids to carry knives into school. What's your problem?
#89
There is nothing to stop them changing that law or any other tomorrow is there?
If you don't approve of a society where laws can be changed by democratic means - perhaps you should go and live in a dictatorship.
If you are particularly obsessed with living in the past, you may even wish to live in a theocracy.
I hope you find this advice helpful.
