I used bodykit tape that I had lying around., just the same stuff as mirror pads.

I switch on the camera and press record, then put it in its holder.
Then remove from holder and press stop record.
Just that I find it easier that way, big fat fingers here.

in saying that guys I take it there is no real need for adapter ?? you can just hook the cam back up to the pc via the usb lead and read the card from there - yep ??

p.s bit wary about inserting the little micro sd card in the actual cam !! I take it it goes in narrow end first with the writting on the card face down ie. cam bracket side ??

Yea you don't need the SDCard adapter. It's only handy as I said before to have it to use in a PC or another device that doesn't have a micro SD slot if you are not using it over USB.

So correct the USB cable handles your files to your PC from the cam.

Pic of way round the card needs to go in relation to the cam. It can only go in this way. Push it in you will feel resistance against a spring, then click into place. Usually you have to use your fingernail to click it in.

Dunno don't use the webcam or intend to. Check for something in program files, maybe it just hasn't created a shortcut for it.

Okay nothing found in prog files either, am going to remove the driver software and reinstall it and see if that helps ??

to be honest the only reason I want the webcam is to set the cam up ie to see where best to locate the cam for recording and just thought it would be ideal to use the webcam function for this ie plug the laptop into the cam and I can see what the cam is actually looking at.

sorry to be a pain !! if I did not have this webcam function would I still need to install the driver if I wanted to just view /transfer the contents off the recorded footage off the card via the cam - usb lead method ??

Okay thanks for your continued support appreciatte that !!

okay now got the camera working with my little netbook, never bothered with the webcam driver and the netbook has no cd / dvd drive anyway !!

so okay want to try and edit the date / time on the cam via the above instructions, can I edit the sd card via the cam plugged into the pc via the usb cable ?? or would I require an actual card reader to be able to get into the route off the card itself to make this new text file ??

Found a little micro sd adapter laying around so popped the little micro sd ccard into it and put the adapter card into the card reader, unfortunatly this is where the non compatablty comes in guess the reader will not see this particular type off micro sd, pity !!

so okay any other way to edit the date / time on the cam via just the cam / usb lead ??

Dude you're really overcomplicating things lol, just create the txt file on your PC and copy it over to the SDCard. You will see the SDcard in mycomputer as a drive when the cam is connected to your PC over USB.

btw for the webcam part, when the cam is plugged in over USB press the mode button then it should fireup the webcam app, assuming you still have the driver installed.

On a empty memory card I just copied the TAG file from the cd then unplugged the camera and plugged it back in again, when I went back to the folder the TAG file had gone and the DCIM folder was back, when I tried the camera the Time/Date were correct.

Okay tried exactly that but for some reason the date / time on the camera is staying the same as the one I copied over from the TAG file which was on the cd ??

blank memory card, found TAG file on cd, copy and paste this TAG file onto the blank memory card, unplugged the camera, plugged it back in, TAG file gone but still the same date as what was originally in the TAG file off the cd ??

any ideas ??

On the supplied software disc is a file named TXT, open it, change the date and time (in the same format) to the current time and date and then save it in the folder that the camera comes up as in My Computer.

It worked for me.
Try This.

Did you change the date and time in the TXT file? Also you have to turn off the cam then turn it back on again for it to reboot and use the new TXT file. When it has picked up the file it will automatically delete it. Works fine for me, well until it runs out of battery charge then you have to do it again.

OK numptie alert regarding editing the recordings...

It records an avi file but its huge, 200meg for a few mins. Is there free software that can edit it (chop the start and finish where I'm turning on camera and loading into holder) and also save it in a consensed format that does'nt affect quality?

help!

Thats uncompressed AVI Shirley? Using MPEG4 or H.264 compression (Audio Video Interleave is simply the way its recorded) it should be a fraction of that size.

Just a thought but have your tried viewing the recordings via another pc just to see if it is possibly a fault with the media player software itself ??

you buy it via a uk seller ?? if not what would postage to HK / china be ?? possibly just better spending another £12 on another one if its not a uk seller !!!

from experience its more than likely a uk based seller as vary rarely do HK / chinese sellers ask for you to sendanything back, again from personaly experience they seem to be a very trusting lot these guys !!!

but again would try a different pc / alternative media player just incase its something wrong with this as opposed to the actual cam.

let us know how you get on- good luck !!

Okay guys thought this thread would have kept on going now that a lot off us are receiving our cameras and having a chance to give them a little road test ??!!

have now mounted mine as per the suggestion / pics a few pages back ( thanks for the tips / idea !! ) the only thing I notice is that for some reason the little camera is now refusing to lock into posistion within the mount, can only think that the little tabs on the corners have come off ( cant really see with the new location where the bracket is fixed )

anyway think a small strip off that velcro stuff fixed onto both the mount and camera itself will make the better long term solution.

The date / time problem has now been fixed, dont know why but tried it a few times with the info given on here but it refused to change and the TAG.txt file still remained instead off automatically deleting itself, anyway it eventually changed and appears to be keeping the correct time now.

no more videos to share guys ??

I had the same problem with the camera sitting flush in the mount, so I use a velcro strap the ones use get on laptop power cords.

I just used a bit of bluetack, it's stuck securely and absorbs any vibration between the cam and the bracket.
