"The technology that the iPhone has, is the same technology that has been around for years in other phones, and applications and programs have also been around for a long time."

Think about integration and consider synchronisation.

I used a HTC phone with android today, at first I liked it, within 20 minutes I was frustrated and disappointed. It must be horrible getting that feeling when you've just signed up for 18 months and shelled out your hard earned cash. It didn't integrate with Google as well as the iPhone, for an operating system designed by Google that's a disgrace. The screen gave the impression my finger was floating above the keys and icons, that could put people off future versions or alternatives.

Finding anything was less than adequate.

Now I know the Nexus One is an improvement and would love to try one when I can, but the HTC phone that my friend bought this week from Orange was a let down today.

Get a better stereo then, because i can connect my HTC to my car stereo just fine via USB but i don't due to being able to plug in a memory stick with far more music on than any phone

I'm not slating the iphone just the mentality by a lot of it's users that it is by far the best phone when lots of other info and opinions say otherwise, like i said before i'll be even trying one next i think

I can honestly say I would say the same about the iPhone, as I have said it about all touchscreen phones I have ever used.

Not for me.

But then again, I can find you many who have said from experience the same about the iPhone.

One day you will get it, the iPhone is not the one and only, its just damn good at what it does, for those who want that.

What? Apple decide that I can only have the default world globe picture as my 'desktop'? I want my lovely happy pic of my kids purlease?! This is all about the picture that appears when you unlock the phone - cant be so?

My car stereo does not need replacing, it was made to work with with my iPhone, it works just great with your HTC, just no where near as well as with the product it was designed to work with. The HTC plugged into my car stereo is a bit like putting diesel in a petrol car, it might just get you home but it's not the best. Have you compared the music player on the HTC with the iPod, iTunes and Alpine combination. I think you're missing out because your HTC has some bigger numbers.

Snazy, you obviously have sausage fingers and have been put off by weak attempts at touch screens as I mentioned above. You can buy buttons for the iPhone now you know, it's an affliction you have but there is a cure.

You can replace the picture of the world with a picture of your kids, I have a picture of a Lizard to remind me of David Ike.

Great - how? This is so unintuitive to a PC/Nokia man!

Choose imported pic and assign as wallpaper - nope... Select 'wallpaper menu' but then not offered any other personal options.

D

>stop< got it! Copy pic from new fangled Wi Fi file transfer app to 'photos' (thereby wasting much memory in duplication) then get an assign wallpaper option. What a weird disjointed device!!!!! Mind - still hasnt crashed So love the faith in gluing the back on - doing the same would have caused Nokia to go bust!!!

I'm pretty sure your car stereo wasn't designed as a docking station for a iphone

If you have a good enough stereo you don't need any plug ins and as said before i have no need whatsoever to plug my phone into my stereo, i don't see why your now your saying an iphone is the best because you can play quality music through your car stereo, as with milions of people you choose a stereo for that and i doubt its as good as my stereo in my house but then why would it be

You are a very strange person if the quality of music in your car dictates what phone you buy and anyway 9/10 people would not notice the difference, only people that have to justify the iphone.

Strange. I can select any one of over 5,000 photos in my photo library and assign as Wallpaper in two clicks. Not at all sure why yours is different. Is your photo library synced via iTunes?

I think the ones coming in via the new PC Wi Fi file transfer app dont go in folders it expects to assign as wallpaper... Admin aint talking to sales!

No joke. It's an Alpine car stereo that's designed for iPod and iPhone. The wonders of modern technology eh! Who'd have thought that a car stereo would one day be designed for a telephone.

What made you decide to buy your phone? Was it because it had bigger numbers as stated earlier?

The technology wasn't made for a phone it was made for an ipod, the fact the phone uses the same interface is a plus Modern car stereos have buetooth built in so easier to play your tunes thru virtually any phone that way

Nope, I just dont have the patience or commitment to a phone to change its form just for it to function. And yeah I guess I have large hands too, but not too large to operate a BB. I prefer physical to virtual.

As for the touch screens I have used, you are right they are all weak IMO, inc the iPhone and iPod touch. Thats just me.

I do notice that the iPhone still scores badly as a phone though, which is a bit wierd given its name lol

Anyway, enough iPhone bashing for this thread.
If it ticks ya boxes, buy one. If an HTC does, get that, if a BB does, go that way and so on.
Dont just buy one because it IS an Apple product. lol

Re the question to other about why.... I bought a Blackberry because it does everything I need it to, the way I need it to

I tried streaming Mp3 music through bluetooth once - never again. 8 track sounded far more Hi Fi! Useless function.

Sorry Snazy, but you're a dying breed. People were the same when the rotary dial was on it's way out. It's OK, you can still buy them and it is your choice.

Now back to your precious GSM Arena you go, I'll stick with personal experience and recommendation when it comes to technology if you don't mind.

I'd love to hear more about your mate who managed to break 17 iPhone's though he must be a right klutz.

I'd still go for the Nexus One by the way, apparently they've fixed Google integration, I'm sure that as it's software the fix will be made available to all HTC phones.

No Steve, you're wrong, this car stereo is made to be compatible with the iPhone especially. Other connection methods will, like it or not, suffer from interference from the telephone.

Bluetooth works great though as you've said, but it's a lot more of a pain in the **** than plugging in an iPhone. And it's not just in the car, there are iPhone specific pieces of hardware everywhere nowadays, like it or not you can't deny it.

I'm not sure, think it might have been a hero it seemed a little smaller than the iPhone with a trackball. Best I'd played with yet, but still no cigar.

Here's the iPhone stereo to save anyone googling Alpine-Digital Media Receiver-iDA-X305

lol @ a dying breed. Why? Because I dont want to use a touchscreen. If so, that is by far the daftest thing you have said to date.

If you want to know more about Stefan, I have given you his website before, contact him and ask him.. Im sure he would be interested in your professional view of him lol.

I will leave you be now, before you wear a big hole in your screen typing endless replies screaming "i love iPhone" for all the world to hear.

The hero has a "pointy out chin" at the bottom, its quite distinctive.

Personally i think the design of it is genius, but it seams a pretty marmite type of design to most, the yank heros don't have the pointy chin.

Just checking the Orange website and it looks like they only do 2 HTC phones, so it was probably a Hero

Its just about official folks, Jacks number 2 bestest phone is an HTC Hero
I wonder what firmware revision your friends phone came with?
Mine is quite new, yet came with the old firmware on it, i would assume your friends did as well (tell him its worth updating it)

That's why I love it when you join a mobile phone thread, you poke a finger at a person, then do exactly the same thing yourself. It's clockwork, a bit like the buttons on your phone.

So can you tell us why your phone has an inferior camera with no flash, can't make video calls, has no FM radio, batterey can't be changed unless you send your WHOLE phone away and have to pay for the pleasure. Also from reading various phone reviews the call quality is not the best either?

Yes I can. It's because they are second rate features.

The camera is perfectly fine. Flash I turn off on my actual camera.

Video calls are the new Bluetooth ear piece, give enough people the chance and you'll start seeing a few in Tesco on a video camera. Please spare us.

FM Radio, is this the 80's. Ever heard of streaming audio.

Batteries were made replaceable when phone batteries were poop and phones locked up. I'll put money down betting that more backs were opened on phones because the phone locked compared to batteries being swapped for extra power.

What makes you say this? I sell a large amount more Blackberry's than i sell iPhones. Inputting data is still alot faster than any touch scren phone. And if it is such a dying breed, howcome other manufacturers are producing phones with the same design layout?

Blackberry also offer push email services, both BIS and BES whih are extremely good services, this is something Apple do not offer.

Alos your comments about the Hero you used on ornge, in what way did it not sync that well to google? Mine is fully sync'd to google mail account and provides push email, it is fully sync'd to the android market and it automatically saves all my contacts to a google server, therefore if i need to get a replacement phone if its stolen, or perform an update and factory reset i can simply log in to google, it then downloads all my contacts, it downloads any application i got from the android market and it then links to my mail account.

How does the iPhone link to google better?

Also just a heads up within the next year when android really picks up, google will be keeping a large number of software exclusive to android phones for a very long while, like the voice guided navigation which uses street view.

lol im glad someone else does not think im one of a kind haha. Rediculous statement I have to say.

So to clarify... Apple did NOT include 3G, MMS, Cut and Paste and other such features.... UNTIL, they reinvented them, made them worth having (aka pretty) then it became a worth while feature. Maybe they will reinvent video calling and FM radio next lol.

Credit where its due Jack, you REALLY DO have an answer and a comeback for everything. Regardless of how rediculous it sounds lol.

Tell me one thing though. Can you accept that some people just DONT WANT an iPhone, but it does not make them inferior, sub-human, or any less individual than others ?
I just want to make sure that you just feel iPhone is the #1 choice, not the ONLY choice. (serious question btw)
Im just really starting to question my contribution to the human race, and how worthless it is without owning an iPhone.

Quick Reply: HTC phones, which is the best one to get ?
