lol fair point mate. It does always get a little OTT.

You have to admit thought, you are very passionate about Apple stuff But then there is nothing wrong with appreciating a quality product.

My slating of the iPhone is just a chuckle to me, being that I have no use for one, but people I know still insisting its so much better than what I choose to use. its a vicious circle.

A Ferrari is a great car, but pointless for the school/shopping run lol

But please read through this thread. The OP asked about HTC phones, I recommended the Nexus One. After that the iPhone bashing started, something I'm fully prepared to defend. At this point I'm called an obsessive Fanboy. Bit odd. What name do you call people who can't help but slate the iPhone at every chance?

Ive decided to keep my 5800 until the price comes down on the Nexus One and when they are more freely available, i just don`t fancy an iphone as almost every Tom, Dick and Harry seems to have one.

Not sure about Tom and Harry mate.

I tend to wait a month or so to see what the honest reviews on them are. But it is already highly rated.

Good luck with whatever you go with, let us know how you get on, im always curious.
Have you looked at the MotoDEXT? Or did you want HTC

All I know is don't get an HTC Snap. I got given one as my work phone and I found it effectively unusable thanks to the Windows Mobile interface. Bloody awful. We have just replaced our fleet of HTC's with iPhones even though the iPhone is clearly not a good corporate phone.

Snazy, you should get an iPhone as your 2nd handset just for a laugh. You may surprise yourself

What were you trying to send via bluetooth, I have no doubt it could be sent another way.

It doesn't do transfers or internet tethering via Infra-Red either, like my old Nokia, before someone drags that up.

Anyhow, have you been telling customers that iPhones don't do push email. If so you need to do some homework. Google mail was not an option on the HTC phone I set up today. Other providers were. That's a clear win for the iPhone.

As for Google holding up development, shame on them if they pull such stunts. Innovation should be their aim. Quite honestly I think they'd be shying away right now if you represented them with statements like that.
What does my age have to do with anything? From that comment you seem very old...So what?

The iPhone push isn't quite the same as Blackberry's push email services. Do you understand how the push feature works on the blackberry? And what BIS and BES are? Do you understand how the iPhone pushes email?

And you said Google mail wasn't an option on the HTC Android phone you used recently from Orange, i know for a fact that Google mail works on both HTC Android phones we sell.

Shame on them for holding back technology for their own products? Could you please explain that. I was under the impression that such a feature would cause people to want Google's product over Apple's, therefore making them more money and gaining Google Android a bigger market share.

Infra red is so last decade!

I have a file on my phone (an SLR jpeg pic transferred from my PC via the Wi Fi and PC web browser method) and now wanted to beam that to the Apple FCP suite I'm working in today. Lots of bother and failure unfortunately. I havent Wi Fi here.

Cheers

I have considered it many times mate, genuinly. But I really cant get to liking touchscreen phones. I have used iPhones, and usually get fed up in a very short time span.

Its not totally out of the question to get one in the near future, but I have done the whole, get a second handset and never use it because it irritates me, with the Nokia 5800 lol

I think I would only ever get one as a play thing, and for that reason I might as well just get an iPod Touch.

Like I say, I honestly think they are great, but not for me

Yes I have extensive knowledge of push mail from all the vendors you mention, currently I currently use Mobile Me and Gmail via Exchange Server, both use Push. I suggest you do some reading and get some personal experience before further comment, your reputation as a phone salesman is suffering.

Do I have to screenshot my friends phone for you? Gmail does not get a mention on the mail setup screen. Hotmail and Orange do.

Diesel, from airsharing I can choose to email pictures.

HTC phones, which is the best one to get ?

Is the title of the thread but yet again you are quick to jump in with your iphone fanboy worshipping .Take a step back and consider the op wants a HTC phone .Now if the thread read Iphones are they as good as Jack says then yep feel free to spout your drivel. But theres no need to type the same old crap every time a phone thread is started .I think we are all aware you love iphones

Ian, you're showing your Reading age. Now go back and have a look at reply number one. That would be me recommending the HTC Nexus One. Something I've continued to do throughout this thread.

You're doing it wrong then im afraid. When you first start the phone up you have the option to sign in via Google mail account, and this signs you in to the Googlemail server, the market, and then lets you sync contacts to Google server also.

You are trying to set up an email account that is not Google, in the menu just above the "mail" button, is a "Google mail" button, this is where you can set up your Google mail account

Again, what does my age have to do with this debate? (you ignored that point in my last comment)

Yeah but that doesn't matter because my dad could beat his dad up....Thats if he hasn't got the "my dads bigger than your dad" app for the iPhone anyway.

I'm doing it wrong by not being the first person to start the phone? Is that what you're saying. I was not trying to set an email address that is not Google, I entered @gmail.com as the address and the servers were entered correctly by the phone. Hotmail and Orange had specific setup buttons, Google did not.

You're replies were immature and reminded me of a Saturday boy in the local Carphone Warehouse. I asked in order to confirm my suspicions.

Ian, it's getting late, your contribution to this thread has been nothing but name calling, why not step away from the computer, Blue Peter is on, it'll be bed time soon. If you're not a child then you are a troll. Either way, go find something else to do you're out of your league.

No no thats not what i meant, You get the option to log in when you first start up the phone from new, if not then you click on the "Google mail" button in the menu rather than the plain old "mail" button. In the "mail" application you get "microsoft exchange activesync", "orange email" and "other(pop3/imap)". The "Google mail" is meant purely for google as it links it with other features on the phone

The phone is design for using with Google, so when setting up the phone you ideally are meant to create a Google account so you can take advantage of all of the things i mentioned earlier. Alternatively you can create the account and add it to the phone/ or add an existing one using the method mentioned above.

I hope this is more clear.

I call the iphone a useless phone and I have one, its a good gadget but a hopeless phone. The HTC will have a far superior call quality and he is after a phone. I like the iphone for the cheap games apart from that virtually all the modern phones do what the iphone does

Go back and read your comparisons, typical of a young salesman that read too many cheatsheets. You were innacurate on more than one occation but still keen to comment. These led to my assumption. Accurate?

Is there anything that apple won't charge you for??
