I simply pay for BIS @ 2.50 a month. A service which without it, the BB would not perform in the way it is designed to operate.
Not really the same, so not a comparison.

Not really. You already pay for your data plan with your carrier, then pay an additional fee for a further service.

Lol I think you would find the other phones equally as useless without a dataplan too.
I think like most other things you have simply ignored things like the cost before.
The cost of BIS is mentioned all the time.
Ironic really though that even with my apparent "extra" charge I only pay £16 a month. A little less than the average iPhone tariff.
Nice try though, but you are still making an irrelevant comparison

Here's my parting shot. An article posted to digg today, the article's average but the comments are excellent. Unlike this thread the rebuttals from the non apple crowd contain some intelligence.
The Best Way to Beat the iPhone? Don't Try to Copy It.
Enjoy.

I agree, Apple has done great things with the iPhone and taken us places where nobody else had. However, there's no mention whatsoever of Google Android, the fastest growing platform. Granted Apple was first but Google deserves some props for development and innovations of Android and the Nexus One. In fact it's been predicted that Andorid will have larger market share than the iPhone/Apple within the next three years:
Yep there are some good comments

Jack, you are going without admitting your comparison of BIS and an app was lame? Oh no lol.
My parting "shot" then is.
Apple, well done for the iPhone, but people are making very viable alternatives now. You are not quite so alone.
HTC, well done for bringing so many options to the market (even if its all too much for Jacks liking)
Google, credit where it is due for making a platform which has taken off so quickly. And developing it for numerous handsets, which allows the end users a 100% personal choice about what device they use.
For me, Android offers the complete package. Its not trying to be something its not, but it allows the all important customer a lot of control over their experience.
Keep doing what you are doing Apple, you do it well. But watch out, there is an angry android with a death ray pointed at you lol.
Back to the OP, if you are not confused now, you never will be haha. But have a look at a few of the options out there. And I wanna know for definate what you end up with

So you pay for a service and I pay for a service, we see the value and cough up. Sometimes you just have to pay for a quality service was my point and I'd say we agree. The only issue is your phone wouldn't work without that extra payment when an Android based phone or an iPhone would. Funny how I've never read about that £2.50 on one of these threads before.
![Lol](images/smilies/lol.gif)
Like I say, factually incorrect, so I would say you should re-read what you have written and realise the error of your way.
Bit like comparing a shoe to a leg! lol

Snazy, thanks for bringing me back to this thread.
Lets review your issues.
It was stated that you could achieve everything that Mobile Me offers via the use of free applications, I agreed with this but stated that some of us are prepared to pay for a better more uniform service.
Keyword, service. I was hoping that you'd agree that paying for a service is sometimes good as it's something you and every blackberry users does but instead you got all defensive and accused me of comparing BIS to an App.
Think service Snazy and maybe you can go do something else.
And if you want to talk about things that are factually incorrect then you don't have to look far
"And developing it for numerous handsets, which allows the end users a 100% personal choice about what device they use."
Google produce an open source operating system, they don't develop for every handset just a base operating system and their own phones. This could be Androids achilles heal, having to develop apps that work on a multitude of hardware has killed Windows Mobile.

Microsoft killed Windows Mobile by trying patch it up, rather than writing a whole new OS from the ground up.

Cheers Jack I feel completely educated now.
If you read back you will see I have already agreed that paying for a premium service is not a bad thing. The issue popped up when you decided to compare your chosen service to BIS for some reason. I cant agree with something that is not actually factual or a reasonable comparison.
MobileMe is an app at the end of the day. BIS is a service. A data plan is a service.
Thank you for pointing out my factual statement lol.
Apple develop their OS for iPhones ONLY
Android is developed to be loaded on to various devices, and being open source allows flexability. So I stand by my statement.
As per all threads that dare critique Apple/iPhone (bitch, snipe, slag, moan, attack or whatever else you want to call it, we will never agree. Personally I dont want one, and dont see it the same way you do. So concede to your superior knowledge of the mobile market.

How is Mobile Me an App. It provides Synchronisation of multiple devices, remote access to other Macs, remote wipe and find of iPhones, On and Offline file storage, Push Email amongst many other things. How is that an App? There are apps that integrate with it, for instance on the iPhone I can view and share from my iDisk. There's an app for the Gallery.
It's a service. BIS is I hope a service as it's stated in it's name. As for a not fair comparison, you're right, the feature set of BIS is limited compared to Mobile Me, but they're both services and we both pay for them.
Here's some reference material for you, you may note the use of the word service in both.

The latest version of Windows Mobile is said to be locked down, this is good news for people such as myself who want a consistent approach, but bad news for people who feel they have to fiddle.

Get a life, you contributed nothing to this thread but snipes at me. If you read the thread you'd see my recommendation for a HTC phone as requested. It's only when trolls like you join these threads that they get out of hand.

Jack in fairness it kinda goes like this.
Phone thread, someone will mention the iPhone, someone will comment against it, you take it personally, and get a little personal questioning peoples intelligence. People reply, and get personal, you say people are taking snipes at you.
At the end of the day as steve said, its a public forum for people to have "opinions" on. These are things that people frequently differ on. There is no wrong and right, just personal opinions.
Sadly by daring to have a negative opinion on an iPhone, it appears people are stupid, young, uneducated, misinformed, lacking in social skils, and missing out on a whole world of Apple.
I know this is a personal comment at you, but I felt it only fair following the number of times you have questioned my intelligence, and ability to understand the device im using. Let alone compared an optional application, to a data service that the phones run off. Only to then suggest a BB is completely useless without BIS.... Yes,... as most smart phones are without a data plan.
I am gonna buy an iPod Touch in the next couple of weeks, just to soak up all its amazing talents and abilities, surf the web in glorious technicolour, and realise I am a complete **** and have been missing out on this experience for a LONG time.
Then I will return to my normal sad life with a BB 9700, live under a stone, and fail forever more to grasp reality and society.
Long live Apple.
PS, just like you recommend to others, I would take a look back at some of your own posts too, and see how condecending you sound, let alone how personal you can get.

Here's how it goes Snazy.
Phones get mentioned, advice is given, iPhones get slated, I defend them, I'm attacked personally, I defend myself, you play the martyr and tout Blackberrys, you don't shut up until you get the last word.
And I can't believe you still think Mobile me is an application!

Is there such thing as the 'Blackberry Defensive League'?
![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Both brands have become popular with the masses over recent years. The very reason I now don't own either. Plus they both fall out of my shell suit pockets too easily.

Yup I will openly admit I get bored of the whole "battle" that takes place each time. I shall refrain from commenting on iPhones in future, I think I have got it all out of my system now.
![Lol1](images/smilies/lol1.gif)
At the end of the day phones are all a little too serious these days. I agree totally. But I fully support each to their own and personal choice.
Thats me finished.
Oh just one more thing..... buy a Blackberry!

Having been buying mobiles since 1984 I've had an early Blackberry when they were unheard of so to listen to people now getting overly emotional over a blóody brand of phone is just wrong.
