Agree, the 22b is special. You have to drive it, then you can tell the difference.

I'm going by what the Scooby dealers used for reference whenever I was buying them. Since I've bought from three different dealers (Nuneaton, Pangborne, Cheam) and they all did the same I'm guessing this is pretty consistent for Subaru. My classics were 4 years apart but they were sold to me as 'Mk1s' They called my Blob the Mk3 and the Hawk a Mk4. Having said that, given the affinity, respect and and general adoration for Subaru dealers on this forum - I'm not surprised that people have their own numbering system. Me, I'll stick with what the dealers tell me that so I don't order the wrong car in future.
Nope...there's a bloke on here from time to time you may have heard of that will confirm Boyakasha is correct...Mike Wood

International motors have this special edition thing down to a tee
Take the WR1 - what was there 500 limited editions?
£30,000 * 500 = £1,500,0000

Full warranty is important for a lot of people - including me.
Dealer network - not that important

I'm unsure here as to whats going on!

This is not 'a parts bin special!'

Cosworth one of the most respected engine buliders and tuners are working their magic on Subaru's most famous car!

Am I right in thinking that half the people posting think it's just going to be some money spinner for I.M and they want to clear stock of a car that people think is'nt selling?

This car promises to be awesome and I as a Subaru enthusiast appreciate the efforts Subaru UK are going to here to provide the buying public with such a special performance car in what I think is a dying market.

If they ditched the Impreza (and they would survive without it) everybody would be up in arms! but no, here they are trying to breath life back into an former icon and I appreciate and support that.

I very much doubt the car will be over 50K but it stands a good chance at being over 40k, yes for 'not much more' you could buy a GTR but 'not much more' is how much again?!

I look forward to receiving more information on this exciting collaberation.

That is just wrong. Pre 01 if you are calling Mk 1 then the hatchback is a Mk 3. The Pre 01 cars had revisions during it's life just like the 2001-2007 cars. So Bug/Blob/Hawk is essentially the same so a Mk 2.

If you are talking about versions then you need to split UK from JDM as they do not follow. There were no Ver 1-6 in the UK. The UK did not even have a WRX or STi it was the Turbo 2000. In Japan you had ver 1 to ver 6.

Even though I have never driven a 22B I agree with above the car is unique. It was a close as you could get to the WRC as you can get. My MY03 does not look the same as the WRC as when you closely look at the WRC the wings ETC are flared out (damn why can't the road cars be like that?).

Cossie is not going to be the same as there is no direct motorsport connection.

Having bought from Litchfields before I have no issue with buying from him again. In fact he will be able to re-produce the same car/better cheaper and provide a better service.

Your joking right?

Cosworth have been connected with motorsport since 1958 producing engines for F1, indie cars and WRC to name a few

What I mean is the Impreza Cosworth has no motorsport link. Subaru are not in mainstream motorsport anymore.

As a manufacturer sadly no there not but i hope they return.

to be honest i think that 'subaru' will be linked to motorsports for many years to come, think of a WRC car and a high% of people (joe public) will say 'scooby'.

go and watch the WRC, British championship and many many club rallys and you will see loads of subarus flying around not so many WRC spec but Group N

You say that your MY03 is nothing like a WRC car, i suppose its not if you look close. BUT your car in fact looks just like a 'rally' car! put some aftermarket suspension, gravel tyres, rollcage and a few other safety items on and hey presto a rally car

dont think that the WRC car is that special its not, yeh its had a shed loads of mods done to make it strong and safe, loads of trick bits like gearbox, paddle shift, launch control and antilag etc but there not too far apart from the road car. I watched a short program with Chris Ackinson showing his WRC car, he then timed the WRC car on a tarmac road he then did the same route with the standard road car, apart from the launch control and antilag there was only a few seconds in it

so next time your driving around try and spot a Citreon, Peugeot, Audi, Ford etc etc that looks 'like' a rally car you will be hard pushed

Subaru may not be in the WRC (at the moment) but remember where your impreza came from, its success and the icon its become

BE PROUD OF YOUR SCOOBY

Sorry chaps, but whilst the 22b is undoutedly a great motor, it pales in to insignifigance when talking about a true icon and motor that is the RS500. The RS500 has heritage that the 22b would cry about.

Regardless of all this... I hope the Cosworth link brings back some much needed life to the official line-up. I suspect though that the price will not be cheap and it will not produce 500bhp. But for marketing purposes, the numbers produced may be so limited that the warranty claims can be written off...... and they certainly will have claims at that power level!

Will be interesting to see what unravels.

Have to say that the prices for these cars are mad - I thought the idea of an impreza was a performance car for the masses to enjoy and afford. Not any more I feel! 30 odd grand for an STi with prodrive or 330? god know what this one will cost?

Rumours had it the Cosy at two power levels

Maybe because I have shown quite some interest in the Cossy version, i recieved an interesting Email that hinted at
  1. "Base" version car £39,995
  2. "Base + options" versions £44,495.
  3. Option + versions first Batch off the grid, then base.
  4. A Quite small limited editions 42-55 units but not set in stone.
Not sure how genuine as not sent to my Private addy. It's either miss-information or deliberate WEB leaked info to guage internet interest, or just someone pulling my chain

Although from a simular type Email I did get to test drive a Prototype RB320 at Prodrive in January prior to it being released

Looking at the RPI index it was reset in 1987 (100.00) which is just after the Cossie appeared in Sierra form. The index has now just over doubled to end of 2009 (199 to 216 depending which index you choose). In 1987 IIRC a cossie was roughly £20k so at todays prices it would be roughly £40k to £44k.

Interesting that as back in the day I felt a coossie was good VFM, but in todays prices not!

I stated stated my prefs and that you're entitled to yours (Apparently in your red mist, you didn't read that). If you two kiddies can't be civil then stay off the forums rather than snipe at other people and pull it down for everyone. This is the reason Scoobynet get's a bad rap and people go to other forums instead..

My guess will be £39995 otr and upgrades available
not really expensive when a P1 was 32k back in 2000 and 22b was 40k and rb320 were 33k
what the car will be is an evo beater and will win the hearts of jounalists again and out Subaru back on top
