I stated stated my prefs and that you're entitled to yours (Apparently in your red mist, you didn't read that). If you two kiddies can't be civil then stay off the forums rather than snipe at other people and pull it down for everyone. This is the reason Scoobynet get's a bad rap and people go to other forums instead..

I'm unsure here as to whats going on!
This is not 'a parts bin special!'
Cosworth one of the most respected engine buliders and tuners are working their magic on Subaru's most famous car!
Am I right in thinking that half the people posting think it's just going to be some money spinner for I.M and they want to clear stock of a car that people think is'nt selling?
This car promises to be awesome and I as a Subaru enthusiast appreciate the efforts Subaru UK are going to here to provide the buying public with such a special performance car in what I think is a dying market.
If they ditched the Impreza (and they would survive without it) everybody would be up in arms! but no, here they are trying to breath life back into an former icon and I appreciate and support that.
I very much doubt the car will be over 50K but it stands a good chance at being over 40k, yes for 'not much more' you could buy a GTR but 'not much more' is how much again?!
I look forward to receiving more information on this exciting collaberation.

OK its not quite a parts bin special like other options IM have come up with.

Its not exactly factory spec either now is it?
What'll the insurance be classed like.
For example will it be I've a modifed Subaru of some shape, different blah blah blah blah

aXel, when a number of members responded to you and state that you are incorrect please take it on board and don't just dismiss it and say that you are going to believe what the dealer was telling you as the dealer is obviously clueless.

If it's going to be £50k, I'd expect to see a similar spec Cosworth block that Powerstation supply, if it's going to be under £40k then I don't see how they could do that so it may be uprated pistons, rods etc in the standard 2.5 block.
Obviously those cost would include suspension and possibly brake upgrades.

Not dismissing or denying it, see my post middle of page 3 where I acknowledged said other position, i.e. the part where I found confirmation of what you said! Please >> READ << posts before replying.

No probs - you are indeed correct and if I ever go back to classics I know I'll need to be aware of the 1-6s. For now, I'm content to stay in my happy place full of green pastures and dead Evos...

Iain has done a lot to enhance the Subaru name with the T20 and T25 so mucho respect for that, but I would guess this is in a different league and I'm only taking business here not tuning.

Blue Dragon - Good luck to them, anything that helps the profile of the brands is great in my view, we sell both
The Cosworth project has been in gestation for a long time now and the prototype cars (1x ex-Prodrive 380) have been to number tuners over the last 18months. I don’t think it is totally finished as they rang about some parts a few weeks ago. The Spec isn’t as high as the Mk2 Type-25 but it will be enough to reach their targets.
I wonder who will be installing the short engines though?
Iain

Iain,
I am not surprised they rang you. I believe that you may have pushed Subaru to do something a bit special. I, like many on Scoobynet, the Subaru community, Car Programmes, Magazines see what you have done and have nothing but praise.
I hope I don't sound like I am blowing smoke up your a**e but I think it's credit where credit is due.
Do you thinks it's more a "Tuned By" car or a genuine "Cosworth" product?

This would also look good over here.
STI - R205
Tokyo, January 7, 2010 – Subaru Tecnica International Inc. (STI)* is pleased to announce the launch of the Subaru Impreza "R205", a special performance version. The model will go on sale today through Subaru dealerships in Japan.
Based on the Impreza WRX STI, the R205 enhanced the sheer driving performance it shares with former special performance models, such as the "S203" and the "S204", developed by STI. The R205 is the top performance model of the WRX STI. It features new and exclusive equipment and makes full use of specially designed features and performance parts of the "WRX STI spec C" model, the sporty performance model launched 2009. The "R" of R205 stands for "Road Sport".
Most efforts focused on refining handling performance by adopting STI tuned dampers, coil springs, flexible type strut tower bar, flexible type lower arm stiffener of front suspension, and Bridgestone’s specially designed RE070 tyres. Thus the R205 ideally balances agile driving and confident driveability by enhancing a linear steering response and excellent road-holding capability. This is exactly the distinctive ride quality that STI is pursuing as its vehicle development theme, "strength and nimbleness" driving. The R205 offers enhanced total driving control not only in city driving on the road or winding road but also in sporty driving at the circuit.
In addition, STI carried out verification tests of selected performance parts of the R205 through the participation of the 2009 Nurburgring 24-hour race with an Impreza WRX STI. Making full use of this precious race-track experience at Nurburgring - in which any road condition is condensed - STI successfully completed the model in order to offer sheer excitement and unique driving feeling as a distinctive "Road Sport Model".
The R205 delivers an increased 235kW (320PS) of maximum output, and 431N.m (44.0kg.m) by adopting the exclusively designed turbocharger with ball bearings for the turbine axle bearing, specially tuned ECU (Engine Control Unit), and the sport muffler with lowered back pressure exhaust. SI-DRIVE (SUBARU Intelligent Drive) is also available to neatly suit driving style in any driving situation at driver’s command.
The front under spoiler, newly developed rear under spoiler, and the black rear spoiler improve aerodynamics. Exclusively designed 18-inch alloy wheels, specially colored front grille and side STI garnish accentuate its uniqueness.

It is a Cosworth car, they approached IM.
R205 would be a great car, maybe with a larger turbo S204 was close to being released with the euro 2.5 engine so you never know.

Was in the dealership today, who said they know little about the STi Cosworth!
They're not sure if its a full Cosworth engine or a Subaru unit withe Cossy bits added.
They did say thats is going to be 400bhp with a price tag between £40k - £50k!!!!!
Maybe at £40k but i'd want at least 450bhp! £50k is way to close to the GTR or the like!
They have ordered 3 with 2 confirmed orders placed.

Yes all very strange, I dont think things are fantastic for Subaru UK at the moment.
Lots of posts on Surrey Scoobies that Cheam Motors, another Subaru franchise is closing down in April which will be a very sad loss.

Geneva Motor show would showcase factory concepts. This is a UK collaboration with Cosworth.
According to the initial report another announcement will be made this month.
Hopefully it will include spec, photo's and price!

So the R205 will be on 17" rims? or can you fit 20" rims on a hatch!
I do like the rear undertray

My 2p worth !
If the cossie Sti is going to be £50K, I believe that it is possible to put together a Hatch with better handling, better engine performance and better brakes than the Cossie would have for less than £50K. It wouldn't have any warranty, but then again the people who buy/bought Cossie varietals of other cars rarely kept them as "standard", proving that the Cossie car was not the ultimate version, but also invalidated the warranty. Taking advice from leaders in the development of these models (eg Iain Litchfield, Alan Jeffery etc) would result in a better spec car for less money.

Litchfield T20 thank you very much...
