If he doesn't reply then treat it as a gift.
If I'm not mistaken, after you contact him, he has 1 month to ask for the item back, 6 months if you don't contact him.
That's what trading standards told me when I ordered a 2 grand TV and the idiots sent me 2
I chose the 2nd option, done nothing for 6 months and put the 2d tv in the bedroom.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it Dan, you've done the decent thing. I suspect he's probably insured if he's a trader and already got his money back so not really bothered.

I imagine they have been paid for the loss of the package by the carrier's insurance and probably either don't want to, or can't be bothered to contact you. I would just go ahead and use it. Must have been long enough by now,
