Also, any tips on the best method of spotting speed cameras, ok, slowing down to the speed limit is the best policy but whats the best electronic aid you can get, cant afford a lapse in monitoring speed limits like a hawk to get me banned !

Luckily I dont do much driving, cycle to work and dont do loads of other mileage so its less of an issue than people who drive for their job.

Was expecting some stick off the Mother in Law as she really dissaproves of speedy driving and then remember that she attended the speed awareness course last month

I have been lucky and have never had any points so far. I did have a few endorsements in the days of 'bikes and early car driving but luckily never got 3 at once. I am a bit careful these days, especially in the sort of places where you might expect a speedcam, and my Snooper has been worth its weight!. I think my last endorsement was cleared in the early 70's. Being disabled (thats "differently abled" for the PC Plonkers ), I cannot afford to risk losing my licence or I would not be able to leave the house.

Had the license 14 years, never had 1 point. How I do not know as I used to drive through all the road works on the M6 at Rayhall.

Had a couple of close calls though!!! Only ever been tugged twice (not speeding) too and 1 of those occasions I got away with it cos I was carrying firearms!!

Safespeed on my tracker was good, could not ignore it if you tried. But at the end of the day most warning devices are limted to certain types of cameras.
If I was going to spend money on one, it would have to be worth the money and multi function so to speak.

And ultimatly they are never gonna warn you about a hidden cop or an unmarked car. Both my tickets were from cars, so camera warnings would not have helped one bit.

Indeed.

I do still chuckle when I see the difference in driving style of people when a marked car is about, as opposed to the unmarked ones, which are not actually that subtle really. It is really like night and day! Although we do still find the odd customer who doesn't even spot the marked car behind them let alone an unmarked one.

I'm old enough to remember when a lecture from a traffic officer was enough to calm us down for a fortnight....

I would rather see a sea of uniformed officers in T5's than a horde of electronic gadgets with no "soul"....

dunx

P.S. I got 3 points in the nineties in my classic for 89 mph on the M18.....

ZERO points for me ................

BUT, I do cheat - I have a fantastic device which has never failed to warn me .... it is so good that everyone should have it in their car - clearly lots don't have one, maybe they haven't even heard of it?

I have a picture of it .... I'm sure that those who get done for speeding can buy one at any good Motor Factor ...

I have one of those devices too, but my one seems to be broken as the needle keeps moving about

0, never had any.
My OH collected three last year on the M6 coming out of the Lakes, he had some crappy music on and refused to lower the volume. Shame then that he couldn't hear me saying "Camera van, camera van", he was doing 80 as we passed it.
It has definitely slowed him down since, especially in the first couple of months afterwards, in fact I think he is leaning towards changing his car (Evo) because it is just too tempting...
