Were you being chased at gunpoint by people wanting to steal your car?

I will admit to 6 points. Both CU80's. Mobile phone. 1st on the 1st march 2007 (the day the law changed). 2nd, October 08, (scratched my ear on a roundabout) was pulled over by the unmarked snout behind me. Showed him the phone, didn't believe me. Took them to court, magi said I prob had another Pay and Go and upheld the ticket.

Keeeerrrrrrccccchhhhhiiiiinnnnngggggg!!!!!!!.

I give up.

Not bad for someone who drives an average of 3000 miles a week.

That shouldnt be alowed to happen, they should have to prove you had another phone, what happened to inncent until proven guilty?

As for the pig calling us customers, i know you pigs dont actually care about the law and all you want is money off innocent motorists while ignoring the bigger picture, but you shouldnt be refering to us as customers you clown, get a proper job and some accountability might make you wind your porky neck i a bit!

Ahh, but you forget, under Gordon and co., motorists are all guilty until proven guilty.

That is of course, excluding the ones driving unroadworthy vehicles. Or lane hoggers, or crawlers, or SR Mums parking illegally, or foreign drivers, or overweight hire vehicles. ETC ETC ETC.

It all depends on how harsh the codes are if it was something like dangerous driving it would be more if you had a couple of sp30's

had 14 at one point (got the variety pack of tickets) but managed to avoid the ban....... was young and foolish!

clear now though so happy days

six points won't do your premium much good, but like gonzo said - depends which codes you have. normally one speeding ticket won't affect you that much, but get a second and they stop giving you lube.......

In the days before speedcams etc., we learned to keep an eye on the mirror to pick up a traffic cop on your tail. When they used Wolseleys as cop cars at night you could always recognise them by the lit up radiator badge so you could always slow down in time.

When you saw one coming up behind you, you learned to slow down with the hand brake as they approached so they did not see the brake lights come on!

I still use the mirror as second nature.

Marked cars used to be quite a deterrent and a reminder to always mind your step and behave when I was a lad. What ever has happened to the jam butty? Why the increasing covert preference for unmarked cars? Is it that they pull in more stats/fines? Personally I think that is a bad 'proper' policing tradeoff if so.

The increasing feeling that there is no police about is not a good one for anyone. I'd venture further that the chances of getting pulled for drink driving has never been lower and hence the likelyhood of someone risking it after 4 pints has never been higher. When I was in my twenties you just knew they'd get you so you didnt dare...

Why so many unmarked cars now? What is the policy?

D

Ps clean licence and no accidents in 20yrs - inclucing The Ring (just)! Must try harder/switch off more - 3 points just used to mean the Scammerati invoicing you to confirm that you you were indeed alive and breathing

Got up to 8 points at one stage, but the licence has been clear for 2 years now

Were you on the Bredbury junction stretch by any chance Jacko, I have to drive that section every night on my way home, no chance of getting a ticket then, to many road captains doing 45 in all three lanes, 'just in case'

I cant answer that, I can tell you that the ratio of marked to unmarked where I am is about 15 (marked) : 1 (unmarked)

As for the jam sandwich, those markings are still used in London on all the vehicles, other than the Traffic cars, which have the 'National Battenberg' Markings.

i got a 3 month ban for speeding and I also have 3 points for speeding.

Not sure how much its affecting my insurance tbh, i was paying about £750 a year on a classic sti when i first insured it 2 years ago, I was 25 then and now im 27 with the same amount of NCB, still paying £750 for the year as iv just insured it again 2 days ago after buying the car back.

Is that 'company' diplomacy Ian or a genuine absence of knowledge?

It does seem to me that cars I've seen pulled or assisted after a breakdown on my current commute are in the majority by unmarked cars. I think its an odd policy if these really are Trafpol - rather then detectives undercover having to pause and nab a numptie!

Its all intel, but other than Volvo/Skoda the furtive ones lack much brand loyalty from my rubber necking research Bring back Cortina 2300 E's all decked out i say - instils fear in any boy racer

How was it in the days before speed limits Les

Yeah! There's more to that... And I speak as one who had a conversation that dissapointingly degenerated into a row with a nipper copper once for scratching my ear at 3am! Even the bluetooth bouncer earpiece to hand wasnt swaying his 100% assertion that I was on the phone initially!

You would have to speak to my dad about that TX, and if you do, please tell me how you managed to do that!

I will say that I remember the days when the traffic was so light that you could fall off your motor 'bike, pick it up, wheel it to the side of the road and check the damage, first to the 'bike and then yourself, before any traffic went past.

Thats when driving was real fun!

I honestly think that we would all be much better off, and safer, if they went back to policing the roads with "jam sandwiches" and traffic cops who understood about driving instead of speedcams which cannot be fully trusted anyway.

We were always treated fairly by speedcops.

Unfortunately most of the new traffic laws introduced by Blunkett (and passed without comment by our elected representatives ) placed the burden of proof onto the defendant and way from the prosecution

^^ I've posted before on this - how is it possible to move away from innocent until proven guilty in a court of law? That's "enshrined" somewhere isn't it?
