Rang work this morning to let them know I wasn't coming in, didn't go too badly, so hopefully they won't be tooooo pee'd off with me, though secretly I think they will be as we're already short-staffed....
Hair update Lee, it looks sh1te this morning, but don't know if I can be bothered to sort it out. Wrist hurts!

I can top all of your silly bugger stories - which is where some of my cast experiences come from.
Christmas Eve 2007 10 am " Go up in the attic and get the kid's christmas stockings down" says the wife. 5 mins later the Xmas stockings are down out of the attic, but, unfortunately so am I - 14 feet down and across the remains of the metal loft ladder on my back. "Oww" I thought..." that hurt".
4 days later I finally given in to nagging (and pretty bad back pain) to go into the local casualty - "T12 vertebrae broken into 7 pieces" -followed by 3 nights in the spinal injuries unit strapped to a board.
The consultant finally turns up after New Year, saw me and my scans and described me - this is a technical term, so bear with me- as "a ferking idiot".
3 months in a neck to waist brace that had the added comedy benefit of making my arms stick out at 45 degrees, so with a coat on I looked like one of theose freak body builders - with a 60 inch chest, arms I can't actually get down to my side anymore and, comparatively speaking,a peanut for a head.
I'm now an inch shorter than I used to be , but can still touch my toes (just )
Other cast experiences include hip to ankle plaster cast for 6 weeks X 2,12 other minor knee ops, wrist fracture - 6 week cast, several broken ribs, toes, fingers, dislocated jaw, nose, etc. Rugby, football, skiing , mountain biking, drinking, and stupidity were contributory factors to most of them...

I have had a double fracture of my tib/fib before - bit like the footballer yesterday and that was awful. I felt sick watching it. Couldn't watch MOTD when they did the replay
Wrist still hurts! Is that normal? Not hopeful it will be fixed for skiing, but I may have to make it so.
Managed to still get up the gym, so will hopefully be leg fit

Like I say stupidity has a lot to answer for...
I've had the wrist equivalent - two elbows on one arm Don't like watching those things now and hope he makes a full recovery.
I found that most breaks ache for a full 6 weeks especially if you try and sneak the brace off a bit early and start using it - which is where I came from in the first place about not taking it off. Nothing that a bit of rest/paracetamol/ strong alcohol couldn't fix mind...
Far better to leave it on for the skiing IMHO as even a minor ski lift dismount slip or whatever could finish your holiday otherwise. Get your other half to tow you across the flat bits
